Job Summary

Under limited supervision, responsible for procurement of assigned items and executing buying strategies in accordance with agreed upon material buying plans at the optimum cost / quality relationship.

Analyzes market and industry conditions and develops supply recommendations. Interviews sales representatives and vendors.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (List in order of importance)

Review daily demand and forecasts to determine inventory requirements.

Place orders with approved suppliers in accordance with company guidelines.

Resolve price, lead-time, and quantity discrepancies with vendors.

Resolve shipping discrepancies and lost shipment issues.

Process New Part Requests (NPR) for assigned suppliers.

Update item master files : pricing, lead-times, and description and packaging changes.

Communicate all changes related to lead-times, part numbers, pricing, and packaging.

Maintain vendor price lists.

Performs special projects as needed and assigned by management.

Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education / Training, Experience and Certifications)

High School completion or equivalent (GED); college degree preferred

Minimum of 1-3 years of purchasing / procurement experience

Experience with MRP / Inventory systems

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those necessary to perform the job competently)

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, IE)

Use of general office equipment (Copier / Scanner, Fax, Computer, Telephone)

Strong data entry skills

Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Self-starter with proven ability to problem solve and prioritize work

Ability to work in a fast paced work environment

Team player

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT (Under Typical Positions)

Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level.

Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve problems.

A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis.

Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 10 lbs.
