Role description : Procure to Pay Process Analyst

Location : San Jose, Costa Rica


Thermo Fisher Scientific is undertaking a multiyear project to establish world class Procure to Pay (PTP) processes in a complex international and system environment.

This major transformation program will establish standard end to end processes, new technologies and create or change existing organizational structures.

The Procure to Pay processes being developed include purchasing, all aspects of accounts payable, vendor master data processes and supplier enablement.

The PTP Process Analyst (Analyst) is responsible for analyzing the performance of the processes, providing insights into sourcing strategy opportunities and supporting the enrolment of suppliers into the network.

The Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring that global PTP processes achieve financial goals and business objectives.

Role and responsibility

  • Supports PTP process leadership and service centre colleagues in developing process and operational insights
  • Defines, generates and analyses performance metrics and reports, and provides key performance and process improvement opportunities.
  • Performs comparison with benchmarks and targets, identifying positive and negative trends and potential causes
  • Supports category managers and other sourcing professionals in developing buy and pay strategies, monitoring transactional implementation success and enrolling suppliers into the network.
  • Includes catalogue development, internal buy templates and network enrolment

  • Assist in monitoring supplier performance against contracts, buy and payment channels
  • Assist in the global roll out of PTP process, policies and technologies
  • Identify opportunities in automating process using robotics and machine learning, and assist in design and implementation
  • Capabilities and Competences

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills. Must be approachable and customer focused while providing value added expertise
  • Proven analytical, financial analysis, and strategic thinking / logical reasoning ability.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain focus on issues, escalating as necessary.
  • Proficient to expert with Excel : Pivot tables and graphs are required, more advanced functions preferred.
  • Comfortable in rest of MS Office suite, especially PowerPoint.
  • Strong mathematics skills, statistics background preferred.
  • SharePoint knowledge an advantage.
  • Innate curiosity and thirst for knowledge. Enjoys being challenged mentally.
  • Comfortable engaging across functions and levels, both with discretion on sensitive topics and with confidence on high visibility initiatives.
  • Experience and education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, General Business, Finance or related field.
  • Experience working in roles requiring data analysis and use of technology applications, preferred
  • Knowledge of automation and machine learning applications an advantage
  • 1+ years of experience in a data related field
