Job SummaryThis position performs manual duties related to shipping, receiving, storing and delivering a variety of materials, equipment and supplies.
Also, it is responsible for driving a company vehicle to deliver or pick up merchandise from and to customer facilities.
MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (List in order of importance) Material Handler : Inbound : Unload trucks, trailers, containers of freight, counting products, compare to manifest to check all shipments for damage, infestation, or production code dates.
Report shortages, damages, and miss-shipments on appropriate forms. Also be able to sign for inbound shipments when necessary.
All inbound shipments are moved safely to storage locations to be efficiently stacked as store merchandise. Order Picking : Ensure that the correct product number, quantity and type (lot, batch, serial number) of product are picked.
Transport orders to shipping locations or delivery platforms with material handling equipment such as but not limited to fork trucks, cherry pickers, or pallet jacks.
Materials handlers must be able to label, stencil, tag, mark orders, band, bundle, wrap, over-pack, and palletize as required.
Outbound : Compare quantity, label and address with order to ensure out-going shipments are complete and correct. Assign signature for outbound as necessary.
Efficiently move product, cartons and or pallets into trailers, rail cars or containers. Equipment : Maintain equipment in a neat, clean and orderly fashion.
Operate equipment safely and efficiently. Inventory : Assist in physical inventories and cycle counts. Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Driver : Drives truck to transport and deliver mail, cargo, equipment or merchandise. Maintains telephone contact with base or supervisor to receive instructions or be dispatched to new location.
Maintains truck log according to national regulations. Keeps record of materials and products transported. Keeps truck, materials and products transported secured.
Accountable for materials, garments, products, equipment and any other company assets assigned for transportation from one location to another.
Positions blocks and ties rope around items to secure cargo for transport. Cleans, inspects, and services vehicle. Operates equipment on vehicle to load, unload, or disperse cargo or materials.
Obtains customer signature or collects payment for goods delivered and delivery charges. Assists in loading and unloading truck manually.
Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS (Education / Training, Experience and Certifications) High School education or GED is required 1-3 years of warehousing experience / similar jobs.
OSHA Forklift and HAZMAT certification a plus Drivers licence B2 Good driving records Computer Programs (MS Windows, MS Office, SAP) KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those necessary to perform the job competently) Ability to read / write and do basic math Ability to work independently or in a team environment Ability to do repetitive tasks Safety conscious Schedule flexibility (required) Strong sense of urgency to effectively complete multiple tasks and meet deadlines Forklift Operational Driving Customer service skills ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT (Under Typical Positions) While performing the duties of this job, the associate is exposed to an industrial warehouse environment.
The associate works near moving mechanical machinery and noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The job requires working in heights, exposure to changes in temperature, driving equipment, and maybe exposed to dust, fumes, or gases.
The associate is required to stand and walk for the majority of the working day. The physical requirements of the job are for associates to talk, hear, bend / stoop, squat, crawl, climb height, reach above shoulder height, crouch, kneel, balance, and push / pull.
Furthermore, the job requires associates to lift / carry / push or pull up to 75 pounds with or without assistance. Associates use both hands for repetitive actions such as grasping and manipulating as well as both feet for repetitive movement operating foots controls.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
