SUMMARYProvide Packaging Engineering support to manufacturing teams. Aid packaging development activities including some package design, implements packaging process, equipment projects, material research, and sterilization testing.
Support all Clean Rooms and Product Lines for Packaging Process’, Packaging Systems, and their documentation. Supports Packaging process sustaining efforts, NPD process Development and align to the Global Packaging Technology group for direction and compliance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSPosition FunctionsIdentifies opportunities for process improvement in the areas of new technology, flow improvement, process standardization, cost reduction, and regulatory compliance.
Coordinates capital projects, process improvements, and cost reduction initiatives with multi-functional teams from Manufacturing, Quality, Packaging Engineering, Facilities, Finance and outside suppliers and equipment manufacturers.
Maintains an awareness of current packaging and sterilization advances and technologies relative to medical devices and / or other health care products.
Assists in the resolution of packaging-related problems on the shop floor. Visits shop floor regularly to understand current issues.
In conjunction with Manufacturing Engineers and Team Leaders, trains production personnel on new procedures.Establishes appropriate project schedules and prepares project reports periodically to outline progress and take ownership in all aspects of packaging process and process development testing.
Writes and performs FATs, SATs, IQs, OQs, PQs and Design Specifications. Also write and Perform Rework Instructions as needed to resolve production issues.
Write MPIs, BOMs, NCRs, Routers and release documentation into agile using ECN system. Own CAPA issues related to its product line.
Implement and monitor proper packaging standards and procedures that will protect the integrity of the product packaging system and process.
Assists in the coordination of capital projects, process improvements, and cost reduction initiatives with multifunctional teams from Marketing, Manufacturing, Quality, Packaging Engineering, Facilities, Finance and outside suppliers and equipment manufacturers.
Resolve problems with raw materials as needed. Work with IQA and vendors to resolve material issues. Update part drawings and part specifications as needed to clarify information being communicated to vendors to prevent future raw material issues.
Train operators and other engineers on technical issues and rework instructions as needed to ensure proper documentation execution.
Provide hands on training, as necessary, on packaging techniques and manufacturing packaging sealing techniques for improved results.
Works under general supervision with routine opportunity for individual action. Identifies improvements in the areas of regulatory compliance, new technologies, packaging flow enhancements, labor / material cost reductions and work place design.
Work with counterpart process engineers in the US to support DOE and lab notebook studies as required for new product development.
Performs time studies, trains packagers and leads Lean Kaizens. Tracks, trends and reports results of improvement programs.
Performs tests on new packages as required. Maintains complete records of packaging process and equipment design activities, test data, and other pertinent information for each project.
Develops effective working network with outside vendors and manufacturers in order to leverage their resources in implementing packaging initiatives.
Comply with all requirements, duties and obligations under our Quality Management System. This includes the proper action program Management well as corrective and preventive strict adherence and compliance to all regulations, policies and quality procedures.
Comply with the implementation of standards and occupational health programs established by the company, through a compliance with those recommendations to perform the work safely and also advise the company on improvements to prevent incidents or illnesses that could actually damage the integrity of workers and / or the facilities and assets of the company.

REQUIREMENTSEducationEngineering Bachelor Degree (mechanical, electrical, materials, industrial) or Job experience in Packaging Engineering.
