Key Responsibilities :

  • Build, develop and lead the day-to-day operations of the Direct Sourcing function within the Procurement CoE, a key part of Thermo Fisher’s procurement model
  • Actively support the ongoing migration plan for the CoE, including sponsoring future shifts of work and elevating the capabilities of the function
  • Build a cross-functional team of direct sourcing specialists and supplier program managers with appropriate category expertise and specialization
  • Serve as primary point of contact and escalation point for all Direct Sourcing activity serviced out of the Procurement Center of Excellence
  • Support the digital journey for the Sourcing function, including tool / system requirements, test / scale and deployment
  • Develop standard operating procedures, playbooks, and monthly scorecards to maintain high quality and performance
  • Define and manage direct sourcing metrics to track performance on specific business objectives
  • Oversee allocation of Sourcing work among the CoE team based on category expertise and skill sets
  • Manage the supplier program office, governance, program performance and optimization
  • Consult on high profile, complex sourcing requests in support of category management teams for key market events
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and category owners to ensure supplier program operations are meeting expectations
  • Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking for more high complexity, strategic transactions
  • Negotiate contract terms of agreement and pricing delivering and record annual P&L savings
  • Competencies :

    Functional & Technical skills

  • Sourcing expert strong experience with sourcing process, supplier management, contract negotiations and procure to pay operations
  • Experience with ERP systems, spend analytics, eSourcing, and contract management systems required
  • Excellent category-specific sourcing and category management skills in key portfolios of spend (e.g., Electrical, Mechanical, Packaging)
  • Expert understanding of multi-step strategic sourcing processes and strategies
  • Experience setting up standard operating procedures and playbooks
  • Knowledge of project management mechanisms that can be used to manage workload and prioritization of requests from external customers
  • Leadership / behavioral

  • Effective leader with people management experience in procurement will have a team of up to 10 individual contributors
  • Strong project management and process improvement skills
  • Contractual knowledge and negotiation skills
  • Process-oriented leader knack for driving high-quality standardized work
  • Communicates and influences effectively, with the ability to motivate and influence others inside and outside of own function
  • Experience & Qualification

  • 7+ years of procurement experience with direct categories (e.g., Electrical Components, Mechanical Components, Packaging, Optics)
  • Proven working experience as purchasing manager, agent or officer
  • Degree in supply chain management, operations or business administration (nice to have)
  • High level of English language competency (verbal and written)
