The Planner is responsible for guiding the overall design, development, and communication of planning and business development activities that ensure market and technological competitiveness and organizational excellence by performing the following duties personally or through Business Unit colleagues.

The incumbent requires will need to be an independent thinker but work effectively within a team. Must possess thorough analytical skills, business acumen and a sense for technology and industry trends.


  • Participate in developing regional and global strategies with key leaders; serve as a strategic liaison for key organizational initiatives between HQ and regional teams.
  • Provide key business metrics, reports and data analysis to enable tactical decisions on account prioritization, product performance and business development opportunities, largely through -
  • marketing POR, strategic accounts, Industry and BU reports

  • Prepare models to support the annual strategy review process by integrating competitor product and market growth rates, agreeing year on year performance by BU KOB, Country sales, Market and Industry size, and Emerson Automation Solutions & Competitors participation by product, industry and market
  • Support internal organization business reviews between the Business Unit and Corporate.
  • Market Analytics :

  • Research potential new business opportunities in the Process industry either through acquisitions or strategic alliances
  • Study markets, customers, channels, product positioning, product diversifications and any other market or technology related business development activities
  • Monitor the external environment (market and competition) and identifying opportunities to fulfill the business units objectives and corporate strategy
  • Identify, analyze, and monitor issues that affect profitability, growth, and productivity
  • Project Management and Communication :

  • Track implementation on key initiatives and strategies; keep leadership updated on progress.
  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering or business and 4-5 years of related experience required
  • Prior experience in the Process Industry
  • Proven track record in business design and development in a dynamic corporate environment.
  • Both creative and critical thinking abilities required.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to take new ideas-in both business and analysis-from conception to implementation.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office (specifically PowerPoint, Excel and Word) required.
