We’re seeking a Accounting Associate, based in our Santa Ana, Costa Rica office. In this role you will perform finance & accounting functions such as compiling, sorting, and verifying documents (bills, invoices and vouchers).
Also, you will assist in the preparation and posting of recurring, standard, monthly journal entries and compiling segments of monthly closings, annual reports, etc.
In addition, you will assist in the preparation of bank account reconciliation and documentation of discrepancies.

Fixed Asset USD and CAN, responsible for bookkeeping of retirements, additions, cost adjustments, stat accounting and payroll accounting matters
Responsible for review invoices related to capital investments and operational expenses
This person will be in charge of reporting on a monthly basis the PPE reports and to provide all the supporting documentation as well to collaborate with any area related directly or indirectly to the accounting matters : AP, AR, Cash
This position will be responsible to perform reconciliations, lead improvement projects, accounting audits and PBC initiatives within F&A and within the site
This position will be covering all topics related to Corporate Accounting, Corporate Taxes and also Intercompany accounting
Ensure that books and records are current and accurate, identifying deficiencies and potential financial risks and opportunities, and maintaining supporting documentation as per policy
Communicate with customers to find, fix and solve issues, as well as responsible for escalating issues to management as necessary
Comply with Western Union Internal Policies, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (USGAAP) and the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
What you will need to succeed :
High School Diploma or equivalent
Require 1-2 years of experience in accounting clerical experience or equivalent
English level 62% and above.
Read and interpret documents such as operating instructions, and procedure manuals
Write routine reports and correspondence
Speak effectively and properly to customers
Analyze and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written or oral.
Understand processes and systems related with the department daily activities and business requirements
Knowledge of MS Office Tools
Customer service, assertiveness and sense of urgency
Identify and solve problems in standardized situations
