Job Summary

Incumbent support Sales Department and accounts to achieve or exceed assigned sales quotas and goals. Provide support for customers by developing and maintaining relationships.

Work closely with the Sales Manager and external sales representative to ensure high customer satisfaction thru new products, improve service levels, and reinforce marketing initiatives as per sales plan.

Support sales representative preparing quotes, contacting vendors and sales data analysis.


  • Support Sales Manager and Sales representative in SPQ, product alternative when low GM is identified, pricing issues and sales data analysis.
  • Follow-up on quotes.
  • Support Sales Manager and Sales Representative on complex request for cross reference on products and high-end equipment requests.
  • Support Sales Rep with manufacturers and customers’ requests.
  • Calls on customers and users to introduce and sell new products as per sales representative request. Contacting leads that we receive in from our web site, our callers, suppliers etc. (Telemarketing).
  • Identifies product conversions that meet the customer’s needs and goals.
  • Acts as a primary contact for the customer if the Lead Sales Rep is not available.
  • Support on Marketing Activities. Assists with product shows, promotions and product presentations. Reinforces marketing initiatives.
  • Develops, executes, and evaluates action plans. Assists with the launching of any new products

  • Works with the customer and Sales Rep to develop business plans and works to resolve customer complaints.
  • Builds and sustains relationships with customers and ensures customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Provides lost sales by product lines.
  • Process, via computer, all customer requests. Utilize multiple and often complex systems, programs, and monitors in order to research information.
  • Researches and resolves customer issues, expedites back orders, handles return and special requests.
  • In liaison with the QA department, resolves product or service problems by clarifying the customer's complaint; determining the cause of the problem;
  • selecting and explaining the best solution to solve the problem; expediting correction or adjustment; following up to ensure resolution.

  • Proactively interacts with outside sales force to ensure regular communication on pricing and other customer concerns.
  • Provides high-level, quality service, closely aligned with sales, to enable sales growth.

  • Follows up with sales, suppliers, and customers on any outstanding issues.
  • Be able to demo effectively and set up profiles for end users on
  • Prepare reports and promotional materials as needed (sample kits).
  • Assist with manufacturers and VWR support people activities.
  • Meets goals and objectives : revenue, performance and quality.
  • Monitors slow moving and dead stock as needed. Support the sales force in the movement of Dead Stock identifying potential customers through Qlikview.
  • Work directly with local manufacturer representatives to develop and continually improve product knowledge, arrive at most favored pricing, and improve account profitability
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • QUALIFICATIONS (Education / Training, Experience and Certifications)

  • College Degree or equivalent experience required
  • 3+ years sales experience in a distribution or pharmaceutical industry, preferred
  • Business to Business sales experience preferred
  • 3+ years bids and quotes experience or 2-5 experience within VWR
  • Fully bilingual (Spanish and English)
  • KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those necessary to perform the job competently)

  • Intermediate Computer Skills (presentation and spreadsheets)
  • Experience with technical documentation
  • Multi-Tasking to manage multiple duties simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and team interaction skills, routinely interacting with customers, manufacturers, and VWR staff
  • Ability to carry on a business conversation with business owners and decision makers
  • Ability to handle difficult situations and interactions
  • Ability to work independently and successfully manage time and territory
  • Experience in establishing customer relationships in competitively held accounts
  • Time management and organization skills
  • Business savvy in relation to understanding individual customer operations
  • Problem solving skills Capability to travel to customer locations (Drivers’ License Required) as need it

    Typically works in an office with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level. Work assignments are diversified.

    Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve problems. A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis.

    Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 25 lbs.

    However, the incumbent may visit customer warehouse or laboratory areas, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing sites where he / she can be exposed to chemical, burns and other hazards if appropriate protective measures are not taken.

    Driver’s license required.
