Job Summary
Under the direction of the Patron Services Director, this position works an alternative schedule as the Hammer Theatre Box Office Lead, and is responsible for supporting event oversight including ticket builds, processing ticket sales (window and phone), financial reporting and accounting, communication and serving the needs of promoters, clients, and patrons.
They will ensure the sales of tickets for events at the Hammer are efficient, accurate, and customer friendly, provide accurate sales and accounting reporting, respond to customer service inquiries to ensure highest quality guest experience, monitor all event ticketing and seating functions for inclusivity and ADA compliance.
They will recruit, hire, train, schedule and mentor student assistants in all aspects of running a theatre box office, and ensure events are appropriately staffed.
Working with marketing and promotion stakeholders, they will coordinate and disseminate event information.
Key Responsibilities
Box Office Lead - recruit, hire, train student assistants, build and maintain ticketing for events, inventory oversight, patron communications (window, phone, email), respond to patron inquiries.
Set customer service standards for quality guest experience, inclusivity and ADA compliance.
Financial and accounting oversight - ensure cash handling policies and procedures are followed, reconciliation and accounting of tickets sales for each event, cash deposits, and weekly bursar department deposits.
Event Oversight - Liaison with clients and stakeholders, be on-site to oversee box office service for all events, oversee scheduling to provide additional event coverage as needed, provide ticketing and financial reporting.
Collaborate with internal departments to facilitate smooth operations for events.

Demonstrated ability to communicate, coordinate, and execute optimal customer service initiatives
Ability to maintain, monitor and guide ongoing ticket seller training
Demonstrated ability to persuasively and effectively communicate in writing, in person, by telephone or by email with external and internal customers
Demonstrated ability to define, measure, and manage event projects and resolves matters associated with event management, to ensure ideal results.
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Strong supervisory and leadership skills
Knowledge of box office ticketing systems, preferably VBO (Virtual Box Office)
Experience with event management software such as VenueOps, When I Work
Experience in cash handling
Proficient in Microsoft Applications (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
Ability to sell tickets from an online, cloud-based ticketing system, either in person or over the phone
Knowledge of performing arts venues front-of-house operations
Demonstrated ability to develop, communicate, write and monitor policy, procedures and standards for box office operations
Required Qualifications
Completion of a high school program or its equivalent
One year of experience in an office environment
Preferred Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in performing arts, hospitality or business
1-3 years’ experience working in a presenting or university theatre environment
Experience with VBO ticketing system

Anticipated Hiring Range : $3,200 / month - $3,467 / month
CSU Hiring Range : $3,120 / month - $4,592 / month
