The Senior Public Outreach Specialist will be part of our transit client's External Affairs team based in San Jose. The candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive outreach strategies for securing partnerships with key community stakeholders.
The ideal candidate must have the ability to build productive relationships with a variety of constituents through individual prospects, corporations, foundations, and communities surrounding this local transit agency.
Candidates should have the skills to handle multiple tasks and fast-paced projects, prioritize effectively, show initiative, and work well on project teams and with different project managers.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
Work both independently and collaboratively to create and implement strategies for identifying, qualifying, cultivating, and soliciting.
Represent local transit agency at professional meetings, seminars and / or conferences for professional development.
Provide ongoing support to the project team by assisting with online advertising campaigns, social media strategy, CRM management, short links, asset management, website updates, and other ongoing initiatives.
Providing strategic direction relative to the planning, development, and implementation of the annual marketing plan and targeted marketing campaigns including marketing and outreach materials for distribution to the public.
Managing the collection and analysis of outreach data to assess the effectiveness of all marketing strategies, programs, materials, and activities.
Coordinating outreach events and other related activities, including the arrangement of facilities, overseeing preparation and set-up activities, notifying attendees and participants, and preparing associated materials.
Developing and delivering presentations to various audiences.
Performing related duties as assigned.
Demonstrate ability to think-critically and creatively while delivering excellent client service.
Demonstrate experience cultivating and soliciting partnerships is essential, and marketing and / or outreach experience is highly desirable.
Minimum Required experience :
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; or 5 years, Combined education / experience as substitute for minimum experience Minimum Field of Expertise : outreach, campaign, fundraising, public relations and / or volunteer management experience
Minimum three-five years of professional experience in outreach and / or marketing functions
Excellent communication skills, including public speaking.
Ability to build bridges and strong collaborative relationships across a complex organization with astuteness and agility.
Strong familiarity with local political issues and government operations.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively about engaging stakeholders as well as developing plans of action and follow through.
Willingness to travel, with weekend and evening work expected.
