The Payroll Specialist will process and manage the company’s payroll in Costa Rica. They will calculate wages based on hours worked and administer payments.

They are good with numbers and can be trusted with sensitive information. S / he will apply great communications skills to insure accurate results for all employees in Costa Rica.

We want this person to prepare a variety of statistical / financial reports, keep control of bonuses and other payments, compile data and provide support to the Financial Director, as appropriate.

They should have great attention to detail and the ability to problem solve.

Responsibilities

With your incredible previous experience, you will :

  • Process monthly payroll for Costa Rica
  • Coordinate with HR updates, as well as authorize leaves and disabilities slips
  • Review Income Tax withholding
  • Review government reports (CCSS, INS, Ministerio de Hacienda) on a monthly basis
  • Review severance (liquidation) pay calculations
  • Create salary certificate letter
  • Keep track and report on vacation updates
  • Payroll reconciliation
  • Request back accounts for new employees
  • Responsible for the annual report to Procomer
  • Responsible for the annual D152
  • Control the payment of bonus and stipends.
  • Required skills

    What are we looking for? Besides a great attitude

    You must have :

  • At least 3 years of experience in Payroll and Accounting (especially SS and Income Tax calculations)
  • Experience processing payroll for Costa Rica
  • Experience preparing payroll reports based on current regulations and legislation
  • Bachelor’s Degree or advanced student of Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field
  • Fluent in English, written, spoken and conversational (minimum B1 intermediate-advanced)
  • Microsoft Office experience including pivot tables and advanced formulas
  • It would be awesome if you also have :

  • 4+ years of experience in Accounting (especially SS and Income Tax calculations)
  • 4+ years of experience in Payroll
  • Working experience with payroll software (such as PeopleSoft, SharePoint & Time and Attendance Systems).
  • Experience creating reports for Procomer
