We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our growing Accounting Team. In this role, you will provide accounting support for Smartsheet, an increasingly complex, high-growth SaaS company with expanding international operations.
This highly visible position will encompass a work scope across Revenue Accounting, Corporate Accounting, and SEC reporting.

This position reports to the Accounting Manager in Costa Rica.
You Will :
Participate in the monthly close process, including preparation of equity accounting, bank entries, engineering department allocations, expense analytics, and meeting internal deadlines
Develop a deep understanding of the transactional flow through various systems to monitor and ensure accurate financial results
Provide analysis of variances between financial results month-over-month and quarter-over-quarter
Review, assess, and make recommendations for the processes which lead to or impact revenue recognition and recognition of expenses in the appropriate period
Create and maintain standard operating procedures
Help us continue to build and scale our processes, in accordance with best practices
Participate in continued development and evaluation of internal controls and processes, in accordance with best practices and SOX requirements
Prepare accounting schedules required as support for quarterly and annual filings
Create high-quality workpapers, calculations, and memos as needed
You Have :
5+ years relevant work experience with proven progressive career path, public company experience strongly preferred
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting preferred
Knowledge of and experience with an ERP system and online accounting software preferred (NetSuite highly preferred)
Deep understanding of financial accounting, financial statements, and ability to understand and willingness to learn technical accounting concepts and topics
Ability to interact and effectively communicate with the US-based accounting team and remain professional and flexible under pressure
Willingness to approach tasks hands-on and balance requirements of preparing deliverables
Highly detail-oriented and excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to build complete and streamlined accounting operations
Ability to analyze problems, develop / recommend solutions, and resolve issues
