Compensation Team Lead

This role will provide support to our core operational activities within the Americas theatre, in relation to fiscal planning preparation, quota setting, credit factoring and escalation management for commission queries related topics.

Responsible for ensuring the team executes on delivering and partnering with the Sales Operations teams. As part of the role, the expectation is to constantly look to identify areas of opportunities and enhancements in the operation execution of our role in the AMER organization, as well as helping the team to drive improvements where needed / identified.

Due to the complexity of the process and critically of losing experience knowledgeable resources, the person taking this role, is expected to stay in the same role for no less than 24 months.

Primary Responsibilities of the role :

This role is primarily responsible for ensuring the balanced workload across the AMER Compensation team and providing them with necessary assistance and support.

This requires detailed knowledge of Compensation policies & processes. In addition, this role is responsible to support Compesation team management with special projects to support, as well as the following responsibilities :

  • Ensure effective and equal workflow distribution within the team
  • Metrics management (Key Performance Indicators, Business Information Metrics, improvements)
  • SalesForce.com / Case Management Tool Enhancement / Requirements Governance (maintenance, follow up. Updates, etc.)
  • Platform Job Governance Process (maintenance and validation)
  • Compensation Requirement’s Deck and Mapping file governance and alignment with Worldwide Field Incentives team
  • Documentation and quality system requirements support
  • Ensure clear communication and visibility of improvements to all parties required (Sales Ops. Center of Expertise, leadership, stakeholders, etc.)
  • Escalation management
  • Required Skills / Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in Sales Compensation, Sales Operations or Business Operations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent English speaker and writer, able to effectively communicate, train, create training materials, and correspond in English
  • Strong / Excellent Analytical skills, Information management skill
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Experience using planning & commissions applications
  • Attention to detail and Time management skill
  • Excellent Customer Service skill
  • Project management experience
  • Experience working cross-culturally, internationally, across multiple time-zones
  • Ability to interview and collaborate with VMware internal organizations, Finance, Data Management, Senior Management, etc.
  • to gather input on cases / scenarios to resolve commissions issues

  • Degree / Diploma in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering or related field
  • Desired Skills / Experience :

  • Sales Force.Com experience
  • Coordination of Compensation Design and related Credit Factoring system set-up
  • Support allocation / collation of Field Sales Targets and Quotas
  • Support allocation / collation of Field Sales Territory Hierarchy, vertical / geographic assignments and Named Account mappings
  • Support monthly reconciliation / approval of Commissions calculations / payments
  • Support Americas on tools / systems projects with respect to planning and commissions activities
  • Process improvement experience
