The Role : Product Marketing Manager, Telco
We are looking for a high-impact team player with technical knowledge and a demonstrated ability to convince a diverse audience, including potential customers.
VMware has a Product Marketing Manager position available within the Telco team for a well-rounded, hard-working, CSP network expert with a can do attitude.
You’ll get to drive competitive intelligence, diving into all aspects, and will work closely with the field to support them in winning service provider business.
This is an individual contributor role and can be remote.
In this role you will report to the Director, Marketing Strategy and Planning - Telco as well as work closely with our product marketing, product management, account executives, sales consultants and solutions teams.
You will manage the collection and dissemination of the market and competitive intelligence research for VMware and joint VMware & Telco Cloud ecosystem partner solutions to develop a comprehensive competitive strategy.
Our customers are global CSP business and technical decision makers, including C-level personas. Our solutions currently comprise Telco Cloud Infrastructure - Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) and cloud-native network function (CNF) infrastructure, Tanzu for Telco (Kubernetes container management), Telco Cloud Automation, Telco Cloud Operations (automated service assurance) and Software-Defined WAN (SD-WAN).
Technical experience and a knowledge of the communication service provider industry and services is a key requirement.

Research and gather data about VMware’s Telco Cloud competition from a variety of sources
Gather and capture information about competition from websites, analyst reports, social media, press, and customer surveys
Analyze competitor’s technical strengths and weaknesses to better position VMware
Analyze competitor’s commercial, go-to-market (GTM), and pricing and packaging strategies
Create & update competitive battlecards with both high-level and detailed technical analysis
Incorporate qualitative and quantitative intelligence into competitive reports for senior leaders
Provide regular updates to sales executives, solutions consultants, and business development teams via webinars, field newsletters, etc.
Work cross-functionally with product managers, product marketing, technical field experts, and SMEs (subject matter experts) and principal engineers to understand VMware technology solutions to be able to compare and contrast them with the competition.
Participate in sales calls as requested by field and advise on deal-specific competitive strategies
Work with ecosystem partners to understand joint solution and value proposition
Required Skills and Experience
6+ years of experience in telecommunications, information and communications technology (ICT) or other related industries
6+ years of technical experience with virtualization, NFVi, VNF, CNF, Kubernetes and orchestrators. Provider core network & RAN (radio access network) experience a plus.
Excellent research and analytical skills
Strong writing, project management and communication skills
Passion for creating technical and business content to support sales and sales consultants
Willingness to roll up your sleeves to get the work done and go the extra mile
Strong personal work ethic and problem solver
Flexible personality and quick learner who operates with a sense of urgency
Strong virtual team working abilities with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; ability to influence and work collaboratively across organizations
BS degree in telecommunications, engineering, or equivalent experience
Previous competitive analysis experience preferred but not necessary
