Position : Staff-ASIC-Engineer

    Sony Electronics, a global leader in image sensors, is seeking a VLSI Design Engineer to work on next generation image sensor products in our San Jose, CA location.

    Projects include working with new image sensor architectures using advanced IC processing and design technology incorporating both novel image sensor architectures and integrated ISP functions.

    This opportunity is part of an advanced technology team, enabling the next generation of imaging. The successful candidate will bring their deep knowledge and proven experience in Verilog RTL design of complex data paths and control systems to yield the highest quality of first silicon success.

    In this role, you will work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

    You will need to exercise good judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

    Minimum education required : Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related.

    Minimum experience required : 6 years of experience in the job offered or in an occupation developing VLSI blocks from early specification through design, implementation, and device validation.

  • Alternate experience required : In lieu of bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related PLUS 6 years of experience in the job offered or in an occupation developing VLSI blocks from early specification through design, implementation, and device validation;
  • employer will accept master's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related plus 2 years of experience in the job offered or in an occupation developing VSI blocks from early specification through design, implementation, and device validation.

    Skills required : Familiarity with ASIC / SOC design methodology. Familiarity with drafting detailed microarchitecture documentation in a useful manner.

    Familiarity with synthesis tools and RTL coding style. Familiarity with physical design engineering, including synthesis and timing closure.

    Familiarity with hardware bring-up and device validation. Familiarity with Verilog, System-Verilog, VCS, logic analyzer, or shell / Perl / Ruby scripting.
