  • As a General Accounting & Management Accounting (GAMA / R2R) Manager you will be based in San José, Costa Rica. You will be working at Roche Services Americas, which is one of the Roche Shared Services Centers worldwide providing Finance, Procurement services to various countries in the Americas region.

    In this role you will be reporting to the Finance Director

    Key Responsibilities

    1.Plans, organizes and coordinates SSC GAMA / R2R team’s delivery while securing the ongoing relationship with the affiliates, as well as, with the regional and global finance organizations to meet business needs and corporate requirements.

    2.Highly specialized professional resource recognized as an expert in the finance and accounting field with full authority and responsibility over the financial closing and reporting process for the region.

    3.Lead and plan the execution of thecomplete, stringent and timely financial tasks including but not limited to :

  • Fixed asset management
  • Manual journal entries
  • Month end closing activities in Financial Accounting and Controlling area (tax, FX, period opening / closing)
  • Reporting activities
  • Reconciliation activities
  • Closing activities
  • 4.Communicate, collaborate proactively and influence decisions with various business partners and management in an effort to anticipate business partners needs to support GSS Affiliate Relationship Model

    5.Leads the operational teams to improve and implement process efficiencies for all aspects of the Shared Services operations.

    This includes understanding the business drivers and leveraging analytics to support recommended changes

    6.Lead, develop and the mentor GAMA Team. Understanding of the skills and talents needed to meet the business objectives for all functions / tasks within the GAMA / R2R operations teams.

    This includes hiring of GAMA / R2R Team Members.

    7.Establish annual objectives / goals with the operation teams to ensure resources are utilized appropriately, performances are maintained and Shared Services goals / objectives are accomplished.

  • 8.Promotes a working environment that encourages personal development and work stream improvement. Develops staff and their career goals;
  • leads the teams to execute on operational targets9.Ensures overall compliance with the agreed Standard Operating Procedures, with audit and ICFR requirements, Contributes to the continuous improvement of the performance of the SSC.

    Key Responsibilities (General)

    Proactive leadership and development of GAMA / R2R Team.2.Ensure all business activities comply with relevant Company SOPs, local laws and are of high ethical standards


  • Expert with a solid understanding of finance and accounting processes.
  • Strong ability to prioritize and organize work effectively, adhere to tight and established deadlines
  • Demonstrated communication skills with a focus on customer service
  • Knowledge of Finance Shared Services (AP, AR, etc.) and operational accounting processes and related technology systems (eg.
  • SAP, BlackLine,etc.) is desired.

  • Effective and professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform work with limited direction and guidance.
  • Determines methods and procedures on new assignments.
  • Strong presentation and analytical skills.
  • Strong skills around strategy, focus, vision and being able to deliver a roadmap with a business case.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and multitask, meet all deadlines and manage up.
  • Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Works independently and reach financial decisions with minimal direction.
  • Language : Fluent in English & Spanish required, Portuguese and / or French preferred.
  • Can lead projects and / or cross functional teams.
  • Requirements

    Bachelor Degree in Business / Finance / Accounting or related field required. MBA desired

    International Certification in Accounting / Treasury / Finance highly desired

    10+ years experience in an operational GAMA / R2R areas

    Experience in Shared Services management role

    5 years minimum of prior people management experience

    6+ years of experience in the Pharma Healthcare industry a big plus

    Solid knowledge / Experience with the USA market and accounting rules
