Leadership role in the creation of a strong safety and environmental culture.
Responsible for assuring safety and environmental related regulatory compliance issues are met, as well as the preparation, updating and implementation of company safety and environmental policies and standards.
Analyze, prepare and maintain mandatory / regulatory related safety reports and records (Corporate and Country regulatory records).
Monitor, and perform accident investigations, safety inspections, safety audits and near- miss program.
Identify HSE needs and conduct training at all levels of the organization to promote optimum safety and environmental performance, such as potential hazards, tools / equipment and measures taken, PPE, others.
Coordinates, with internal / external HSE professionals, training required by Freudenberg, and regulatory agencies to all employees and contractors.
Establishes and maintains effective communication and close, cooperative relationships with regulatory agencies, including key individuals within those groups.
Conducts inspections, reviews and audits of operations to assure that management is fully informed regarding the status of compliance with safety and environmental, regulations as well as ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
Establishes and publishes meaningful measures and indices of safety and environmental performance within the organization.
Leads facility compliance for Local laws - including focus on environmental (ISO 14001), machine safety, and waste management requirements.
Develop and support the implementation of a systematic hazard identification and risk assessment procedures (for safety and environmental management systems) Analyze all incidents / accidents and 'near miss' reports as the first stage in a corrective action program and use this knowledge to create a proactive rather than reactive work environment.
Lead root cause analysis on all accidents, and environmental incidents.
Maintains and reports HSE company key performance indicators.
Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems
Bachelor’s Degree in safety management, safety engineering, industrial hygiene, occupational environment health and safety, or a related field.
At least 5 years experience in an HSE role.
Ability to train and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
Evaluate with a big picture in mind to impact safety programs and initiatives across the site.
MBA degree or the educational equivalent
FDA Quality System Regulation, ISO 13485 and design control experience preferred. Well-rounded experience in medical quality systems, product development and manufacturing disciplines.
Understanding of required standards / regulations impacting medical devices.
Adequate knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations to implement and ensure compliance with applicable procedures.
Knowledge of Lock-Out / Tag Out processes.
Knowledge of methods, accepted practices, considerations and regulatory requirements associated with safety and protection of workers, environment and site.
Knowledge of applicable environmental regulations and controls.
Ability to train in all areas of safety and health.
Strong verbal and written communications skills to communicate with all levels of Associates.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
