Amazon is seeking a Sourcing Manager for the Latin America Global Corporate Procurement team. The role is based in Costa Rica or Brazil and has in scope strategic sourcing and controllership of indirect spend categories for our operations in Latin America;
specifically in Costa Rica, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Argentina and Peru. Spend categories within scope are (but not limited to) employee benefits, professional services, facilities (construction and building maintenance), advertising & marketing, software, recruiting services and contingent workforce, among others.
Key leadership traits required include the ability to form strong partnerships with business leaders and their teams to define requirements, identify the best suppliers, and negotiate advantageous pricing, terms and performance for Amazon.
This must be accomplished in accordance with Amazon’s Spending & Transaction Policy. This is an individual contributor role where the successful candidate is expected to be self-
driven and self-motivated, demonstrating ownership, accountability, curiosity and with an entrepreneurial mindset to perform research autonomously to find the right answers.
This role is also expected to coordinate with peers in other regions across Amazon to create and leverage sourcing strategies, savings and contract consistency globally.
Primary duties of this role will include :
Work with business and finance leaders to identify and drive savings and controllership improvements through the leverage of the most appropriate sourcing strategies
Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on procurement principles and processes and maintain procurement ethics in accordance with Amazon’s global policies
Work closely with the business teams to understand their purchasing needs and select the best suppliers to achieve long-
term goals while focusing on total cost of ownership (TCO)
Generate and implement effective sourcing and category management strategies by identifying and managing sourcing and supplier engagement activities including strategic sourcing plans, request for information (RFIs) / request for proposals (RFPs) / request for quotes (RFQs), bid and proposal reviews, negotiations, contract awards, etc.
Develop creative negotiation strategies to deliver against business objectives and achieve sustainable relationships with suppliers
Evaluate supplier core competencies and competitive positioning using industry cost models and benchmarking analysis
Prepare and hold business reviews with local stakeholders to review vendor performance, future opportunities and / or challenges
Implement supply and supplier risk management actions and support resolution of supplier quality or performance issues
Analyze industry and evolving trends to proactively identify supply base issues to reduce cost, minimize risk, protect continuity of supply, and exploit emerging opportunities that benefit Amazon
Contracts drafting and red-lining in English and Spanish
7+ years of relevant Strategic Sourcing experience, preferably with 3+ years in an Indirect Procurement function at a multinational organization with regional exposure managing contracts and leading Sourcing projects
Bachelor’s degree (BS / BA)
High proficiency in Spanish and English with strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in Portuguese is highly desired.
Highest degree of ethics and integrity. A work ethic based on a strong desire to exceed expectations.
In-depth understanding of best-in-class procurement practices (sourcing, contracting, negotiation, etc.)
Extensive knowledge of contract terms and conditions

Exceptional attention to detail and ability to prioritize in a complex, fast-paced environment

Experience in corporate services sourcing (especially in Mexico and Brazil)
Demonstrated experience managing sourcing projects applying the seven step sourcing model
Demonstrated experience creating and deploying sourcing category strategies
