Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Technical Engineering Support Teams analyze, test and assist in research for the development of products and processes.

Team members may specialize in quality control or assurance, chemical manufacturing processes, metals, electrical connectors and components, process development, materials, and / or instrumentation.

They may also handle calibration, displays, network control, mold development and audiovisual work or environmental health and safety.

The Technical Engineering Support Teams are responsible for the completion of assigned engineering projects within budgetary and scheduling guidelines.

They plan, prioritize, and manage multiple engineering projects; prioritize tasks and assign team members to ensure that the team's overall resources are used effectively and that project deadlines are met.

They evaluate and authorize changes that significantly impact the scope, budget, or timeline of a project. At times, they may work directly with customers to understand needs, gather customer requirements, identify resources and assess project risks.

They create, develop, plan, write and edit operational, instructional, maintenance or test procedures for paper, multimedia or web-based publication, for non-technical and technical users.

Responsibilities

  • Document, create, implement and maintain detailed standard operating procedures.
  • Capture and record time study data for use in process improvements.
  • Create and maintain accurate manufacturing routes.
  • Assist and maintain detailed plant layouts and floor plans.
  • Design and implement shop improvements to increase safety, quality and productivity.
  • Assist with engineering change activities related to manufacturing engineering.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement projects.
  • Analysis of daily process performance reports which will include but are not limited to the following operator errors, defective product, test equipment / test defects, RMA product defects, and launch corrective actions.
  • Increase production yields by understanding and reducing operator errors and driving test engineering and manufacturing defects to the appropriate department.
  • Ensure that all process manuals and documentation are properly maintained.
  • Conduct walkthroughs, inspections, product evaluation, and testing as needed.
  • Conduct NPI test evaluations.
  • Prevent test leaks.
  • Ensuring the integrity and reliability of product testing.
  • Update and generate documentation as needed.
  • Responsible for maintaining a continuous flow of the manufacturing line and meeting production targets while performing assigned test tasks.
  • Develop, update / maintain process documentation for all areas of operation.
  • Evaluate tools and equipment.
  • Ability to operate in a startup environment with changing requirements
  • Documentation and communication skills with technical issues.
  • Present and verify the first prototypes of new designs.
  • Good eye for detail and ability to get things done quickly and effectively.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel Supervision :
  • Little or no supervision is required for this role. Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate's degree or equivalent of two-year college or technical school preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience and / or related training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Self-motivation and excellent work ethic required
  • Ability to read and understand printouts or instructions.
  • Ability to effectively present information and answer questions from groups of managers, clients, clients and the general public.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret a wide variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagrammatic form and to deal with various abstract and concrete variables.
  • Computer Skills Required : Mastery of MS Office.
  • Possess great attention to detail and the ability to solve problems.
  • Ability to balance a sense of urgency while maintaining the highest level of safety, quality and efficiency as a manufacturing technician.
