Our Immigration program is comprised of top talent in our industry, and we are looking for thoughtful partners to help them navigate through their immigration journey in an efficient manner.

VMware’s GEMS (Global Employee Mobility Solutions) Immigration Team is seeking multiple positions as an Immigration Partner and Immigration Coordinator to help facilitate and drive our program’s success.

VMware will ascertain the skills and knowledge of each application, considering the applicants against each position.

Success in the Role : What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

Analyze and interpret Complex Immigration case work

Within 30-60 days of employment, become competent in VMware’s immigration policies and processes.

You will work closely with the Immigration Manager to ensure compliance and align on strategy for nuanced cases.

Work closely with the entire Relocation & Immigration teams, along with the broader matrix organization.

Assist in Ad-hoc Projects

During high volume cycles you will take a bigger role to ensure continuity of work.

Will take on projects to surrounding policy, analytics, or stake holder training.

What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

Immigration Partner :

Comprehensive understanding of employment visas and employment sponsored permanent residency in the U.S., Canada and general knowledge in LATAM.

Ensure the immigration programs are adapted and aligned to the business and talent needs within your population scope

You will handle and rank multiple priorities simultaneously, using your know-how to problem-solve, negotiate and build strong reciprocal relationships with a broad coalition of partners from finance to tax to legal to payroll and HR operations, etc.

You engage with key Stakeholders as an extension of / support to their objectives; establish relationships, collaborate, and stay fully attuned to business and HR directions and initiatives across regions, business groups and global initiatives

Your ability to actively knowledge share within the HR community to promote the understanding and enhanced appreciation for the value of using mobility (in its many forms) strategically for talent development as well as to achieve business objectives will be key to advancing the program’s effectiveness

Partner with the Global Talent Mobility Partners to get insights and develop strategies and solutions relating to challenging immigration and relocation issues

You will handle and rank multiple priorities simultaneously, using your know-how to problem-solve, negotiate and build strong reciprocal relationships with a broad coalition of partners from finance to tax to legal to payroll and HR operations, etc.

Experience in the design and delivery of complex programs and processes.

Innovative nature, with a proven understanding of business principles

You are an advocate for compliance and the VMware Code of Conduct, with a desire to contribute to VMware’s success

Immigration Coordinator :

Basic understanding of employment visas and employment sponsored permanent residency in the U.S., Canada and LATAM.

Responsible for intake and assessment of immigration queries

POC for HR and responding to general inquiries

Working with immigration supplier and authorizing services

Additional ad-hoc project support

Responsible for the day-to-day tracking & triage for the immigration shared email

Manage the internal query ticketing system.

Work efficiently both independently and as a contributing member of the GEMS team

You will need to be a team player willing to change, adapt, be accountable for and take ownership of everything you do to enhance GEMS program performance.

You will need strong organizational and problem-solving skills, have attention to detail and follow through to resolve outstanding issues.

What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?

The manager for this position is Kenneth Thompson. Kenneth has over 26 years’ experience in the immigration arena from Public Sector to notable High-Tech corporations, developing, enhancing, and managing immigration programs with a strong focus on employment and immigration compliance, corporate reorganizations, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, policy, operations, and of course immigration.

Kenneth believes strategic thinking and collaboration amongst team members and peers; open dialog and creativity are the perfect ingredients that promotes both a fun and successful team.

Kenneth is a five-hour hop, skip and drive from the Austin, Texas office location, residing in a quaint small community in northern Louisiana and is committed to managing our work schedules to complement our busy lifestyles, with work / life balance in mind.

As the process owner, the overall philosophy of the team is to provide a responsive, value-based program to meet current and future business plans while delivering a consistent high-quality service to key partners.

Where is this role located?

Remote : this role is fully remote, and the employee will be based in Costa Rica. However, please note that this job requisition is not eligible for employment-based immigration sponsored by VMware.
