Summary of Role
This is IT LAN Provisioning Engineer position withinthe Emerson Service Delivery and Operations organization (SD&O). The jobholder will have ownership of the technical provisioning of LAN services asdefined by Emerson IT.
Area to be covered is North and South Americabut may expand to other areas on assignment basis. She / hewill be responsible to deliver agreed levels of services to internal customers and to use associated applications,technology and infrastructure supporting delivery of these services in an ITILinspired environment.
Emerson IT Services span a variety of businesses, sites and user basecount, going from small sales offices to large manufacturing and engineeringfacilities, serving 60,000+ users and 500+ sites worldwide
Be responsible for the technical provisioning of all LAN services in Northand South America, following standards and processes of the Service andSD&O Provisioning, providing high skills and experience during theexecution of such implementations.
Role may expand to other world areas on assignmentbasis.
Promote efficiency in all working practices
Follow and enforce Emerson policies and rules regarding relevant ITmanagement, security, standards and procedures, liaise with other teams whenrequired
Maintain the required level of skills to meet expected level of service
Provide the Site LAN configuration package according to LAN Service definitionsand standards, mainly for large and / or complex implementations, followingSD&O Provisioning processes.
Support the provisioning project team during the implementation phaseif / where more advanced skills are required.
Validate Site LAN design documentation and its implementation if executedby SD&O Network Operations team or a subcontractor (technical sign-off).
Contribute to initial assessments for Acquisitions and 2020 Vision,analysing the given situation and providing the technical expertise on requirementsto provision Managed LAN service.
Be available as a consultant for and transition knowledge to SD&ONetwork Operation team for LAN service-related topics.
Collaborate with subcontractors in promoting the right best practices / standardsto guarantee smooth implementation and efficient transition to the SD&ONetwork Operation team after switch-over.
Report to the Service Owner and relevant parties any need for deviationfor review and validation
Make sure that configurations changes are executed in full respect ofChange Management process and procedures
Be instrumental in any Go-No / Go decision, insuring Business continuity
Closely collaborate with the Provisioning Manager / Coordinator andescalate any deviation in the execution of own tasks
Be the trusted bridge between the SD&O organization and the ManagedLAN Service Design and Transition teams
Collaborate with Managed LAN Service Owner and any relevant ITorganizations to improve the global Service
Be the actor of the CSI process and report any need for improvement tooptimize the Service Provisioning and its support (design, process, test andrelease, tools, documentation )
Participate to the necessary documentation and procedures definition andmaintenance
Education / Qualification Requirements of the Role
Education to degree level or equivalent, but experience may beconsidered in lieu of formal education
Minimum 3 years’ experience in LAN related technical rollout projects inan international, preferably large enterprise environment
ITIL or equivalent awareness or certification
Language knowledge : fluent in business English (speaking / writing); anyother languages are considered an advantage
Specialist and in his / her area of expertise, knowledge of current trendsin the specific field, plus good understanding of peripheral environments (e.
g.Telephony, WLAN, WAN, Server)
Professional certifications as appropriate : CCNA, CCNPRouting&Switching / Enterprise, or equivalent experience (CCIE Routing &Switching / Enterprise Infrastructure is a plus)
Strong, demonstrable customer focus, diplomatic savvy
Excellent documentation and procedure writing skills
Ability to interact with both specialist and non-specialistaudience
Ability to manage challenge of remote communicationsthrough multiple tools (Instant Messaging, e-mail, phone, project managementinterface)
Project Management experience is regarded an advantage
Ready to travel (10 % of the time)
