Job Purpose :

The Internal Controls Specialist will play a key role in the Company's Free Trade Zone compliance program and its Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (US GAAPS, SOX, NIIF).

Conduct control reviews and report on the effectiveness of the organizations policies, procedures and resources. Increase the operating efficiency of the Company’s internal controls while ensuring compliance by management.

Responsibilities :

Prepares the annual report that must be submitted to Procomer as part of the requirements for being under the Free Trade Zone Regime (Statutory Requirements).

Works with E&Y to ensure the report is filled and submitted with accuracy and in a timely manner

Responsible for preparing all tax forms submitted to Tax Authorities : D-151, D-152, D-110, D-101, D-104. Works with E&Y to ensure the forms are filled out with accuracy and submitted in a timely manner.

Responsible for updating the fixed assets’ auxiliary. Provide account reconciliation quality review support for management.

Responsible for planning and executing the physical and monthly inventories of all fixed assets.

Responsible for any process regarding the disposal of fixed assets : donation, recycling, destruction.

Responsible for the Custom’s Process for importing or re-exporting any equipment.

Prepare work papers and reporting documentation to support management’s ability to provide assurance of their internal control procedures (updated Narratives, Libro Operaciones, Procomer’s audit)

Work with Management to assist in the identification and remediation of any control, DOA or reporting observations.

Act as a technical resource for management in the implementation of their controls providing guidance on the proper detective, preventive and corrective controls needed.

Identify control risks putting the most efficient control mitigation processes in place. Work closely with process owners and management to remediate deficiencies.

Assist with broader Accounting, Finance and GRC (governance, risk and compliance) initiatives as they surface.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience :

3 to 5 Years of relevant work experience is required.

Required Education : Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance or related field.

Able to execute instructions and to request clarification when needed.

Able to use common office equipment.

Possesses strong data entry skills.

Able to perform complex mathematical calculations.

Able to demonstrate complex problem solving, critical thinking, and decision-making.

Able to recognize and attend to important details with accuracy and efficiency.

Able to communicate clearly and convey necessary information.

Able to converse and write effectively in English and other local / regional language.

Able to create and conduct formal presentations.

Able to interact effectively with higher levels of management (managers & above)

Understand, communicate, and collaborate effectively with people across various identities.

Able to adjust readily to change and adapt as needed.

Able to constructively work under stress and pressure when faced with high workloads and deadlines.

Able to maintain and promote social, ethical, and organizational standards in conducting internal and external business activities.

Working Conditions :

Occasional non-standard work hours or overtime as business requires.

Professional, office environment.

Remote / Work-from-home.

Frequent Travel Required (25%).
