Job purpose :

The HR Manager is responsible for all people based activity within the organization from an operational and tactical perspective and manages the HR Business Partner team, from (junior) HR Business Partner (Specialist) to HR (Officer) support.

The HR Manager is responsible for development and delivery of the HR plan, based on the regional HR strategy that supports the overall business objectives and priorities of the organisation.

The HR Manager is a recognized Subject Matter Expert (SME) and gives advice to management on topics like employment, performance management, compensation, career development and competency development through effective workforce planning, succession planning, skills assessment, development and reward of employees while maintaining positive employee relations and compliance with legislation and company policies, practices and procedures.

Besides that the HR Manager coaches the HR Business Partner on the development within these areas of expertise. The HR Manager is part of the local management teams .

The HR Manager reports directly to the (regional) HR Director.

The HR Manager will be responsible for the following countries : Costa Rica, Panama, Honduras, El Salvador, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Guatemala and Mexico.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop a local HR plan in accordance with the regional HR plan and Business Strategy and participate in the implementation of this plan.
  • Ensures alignment between local strategy & policies and Group strategy.

  • Deal with complex or sensitive day to day people management issues. Initiate and participate in process improvement projects and work towards an increasingly professional HR organisation.
  • Development of HR services, policies and programs that emphasize quality, continuous improvement, and high performance of all employees.
  • Advise and support management and employees on all HR related topics (C&B, Recruitment, Talent Management, Absenteeism, Succession Planning, Organisational design, Workforce management etc) and coaches the team in their technical development of these topics and advisory skills towards management.
  • Develop and update HR data to effectively support and advise management
  • Support the development of a high performance culture based on feedback, openness, accountability and fairness. Ensure the implementation of effective performance management processes linked to individual career development and Group reward systems.
  • Ensure the preparation and implementation of an annual training plan to support business needs and conduct employee training and development programs, including leadership training as appropriate.
  • Implement group policies; update all HR related policies, templates, handbooks and communication channels.
  • Together with the Managing Director and (regional) HR Director acts as a spokesperson for the Joint Works Council.
  • In addition to the responsibilities listed above, the job holder may be required to perform other duties as assigned by the (regional) HR Director.

  • Minimum 5-8 years of relevant experience preferably in an international organisation as Senior HR Business Partner or equivalent level.
  • People management and communication skills.
  • Pragmatic, collaborative, structured and has a customer focus.
  • Bachelor degree in HR, Labour Law, Labour Psychology or Business Administration.
  • Experience with project based working in a complex or professional services environment
