Mechanical Improvement Engineer

We are looking for an Improvement Engineer responsible of all the machine improvement projects focusing mostly on the Mechanical improvements.

It will work closely with the technicians and operators to identify the machine improvement opportunities in the areas of quality, cost, performance, and preventive and predictive maintenance.

You will report to Operation Development Manager in Coloplast Costa Rica Volume Manufacturing Site, Cartago.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • Actively participation in Lean activities
  • Represent the Local Operations Development team in all training tasks outside the country, if required.
  • Continuously explore the possible machine improvements to increase performance, reduce scrap and downtime of the machines.
  • Document all improvement opportunities and roll out all this information to all Coloplast Sites.
  • In the absence of the local manager and / or Supervisor, has the right to make decisions and to take the necessary steps to ensure the continuity of production.
  • Define and scope each improvement project with a clear identification of stakeholders and deliverables
  • Drive troubleshooting and crisis situations to get the project back on track when needed
  • Perform the risks analysis & reporting, define, and follow mitigation actions.
  • Determine and define improvement project scope and objectives
  • Predict resources needed to reach objectives and manage resources in an effective and efficient manner
  • Prepare budget based on scope of work and resources requirements
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
  • Develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan
  • Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress
  • Manage contracts with vendors and suppliers by assigning tasks and communicating expected deliverables
  • Utilize industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project execution
  • Monitor progress and adjust as needed
  • Measure project performance to identify areas for improvement
  • Proper coordination between departments to make sure all improvement tasks will not interfere with the regular production.
  • Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree with scientific background : Mechanical, Civil, Industrial or relevant experience
  • Have 2-3 years of work experience in related positions
  • Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Have strong Teamwork abilities and communication skills
  • Familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices
  • Be able to read and interpret technical drawings (electrical, mechanical)
  • Be able to share knowledge onto other team members
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Shown Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Live and reflect the values of closeness, passion, respect and responsibility.
  • Lead by example and demonstrate professionalism
  • Able to work other shifts and overtime to complete work as needed.
  • Willing to be on call to support production needs.
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral in English Level : B1 Intermediate level (base on the scale of the Common European Framework)
  • Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
  • Proficient in AutoCad, Inventor, Solidworks
  • Be flexible and be able to deal with stress periods.
  • Able to convey a positive and professional image to internal and external customers
  • Deep understanding of fine adjustments and tolerances.
  • Deep knowledge on mechanical measuring tools and processes.
