With the goal of delivering world-class stories and content for targeted audiences, the content development specialist will help bring to life Cargill’s purpose, priorities and businesses across the company’s internal and external channels.
In addition to an ability to apply a strategic lens, the ideal candidate will bring a diverse set of traditional, digital and social communication skills as well as a unique ability to craft editorial plans as well as compelling stories that effectively connect with a target audience.
As a member of Cargill’s Content & Storytelling team, he or she will have demonstrated expertise in writing, visual and multimedia storytelling, a collaborative spirit, as well as strong organizational and project management skills to deliver work on time and on budget.
70% Content planning and execution
Works with SMEs to identify story ideas and develop editorial plans that align with target audience needs, business goals / objectives as well as corporate content priorities.
Researches, reports, writes and edits a wide-range of content (feature-length stories, infographics, video text, sidebars, etc.
for Cargill’s internal and external channels, on time and on budget.
Navigates project timelines, partner approvals and review processes
Familiar with elements of graphic design, photo editing, motion graphics, animation, video production, infographics and other multimedia formats to ensure creativity and variety in our execution.
Writes strong, compelling drafts, incorporating editors’ and / or approvers’ notes as needed.
25% Relationship management
Create and nurture a network of internal subject matter experts in selected topic areas, mining for and assessing content for use in storytelling and news-
related communications and campaigns.
Collaborate effectively with communications partners to agree on desired outcomes, outline roles and responsibilities, manage expectations throughout the process, and share results.
Work closely and contribute to a broader content development team consisting of social media experts to video producers to campaign managers and more.
5% Content and format innovation
Applies insights from content / story performance to improve future content creation.
Stays on top of latest trends in content and storytelling and makes recommendations accordingly.
Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or related discipline
3-5 years of experience creating editorial content
Bilingual English Spanish
Ability to travel 10%
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience working collaboratively to conceptualize stories, determine the forms of media to be used to tell stories, create and write content, oversee production, edit and finalize content for publication
Ability to create and produce dynamic editorial content that supports long-term strategic objectives, is based upon audience analytics and is adapted in response to content performance
Critical thinking capability and business acumen
Strong team player in a cross-functional, global setting
Ability to effectively communicate with and influence a wide variety of stakeholders
Ability to organize, prioritize and complete concurrent projects under tight deadlines
