Network Engineers are responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring, and managing the local and wide area networks of an organization to ensure maximum uptime for users for any but not limited to data, voice and / or video in a new network, and maintaining and upgrading existing systems as necessary, having excellent problem-
solving skills and thorough knowledge of network administration and architecture.
Designing and implementing new network solutions and / or improving the efficiency of current networks Installing, configuring and supporting network equipment including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless LAN controllers, access points Procuring network equipment and managing subcontractors involved with network installation Configuring firewalls, routing and switching to maximize network efficiency and security Resolve issues tiers of support have escalated by troubleshooting cloud and local infrastructure Maximizing network performance through ongoing monitoring and troubleshooting Arranging scheduled upgrades Investigating and fix faults in the network Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure Updating network equipment to the latest firmware releases Reporting network status to key stakeholders Maintain complete technical documentation Recommending network design changes / enhancements for improved system availability and performance Perform disaster recovery operations and record backups when required.
Generating network monitoring / performance report, for LAN / WAN utilization studies Work with help desk as an escalation resource to solve customers and internal company personnel tickets.
Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation & work weekend and / or "off-shift" hours for customers support. Obtain and maintain required certifications for partnership with key vendors.
Skills and Experience
This requirement could be replaced with three (3) extra years of experience in similar positions.
This individual must have experience with network analysis / management tools and techniques, and be familiar with PC’s in a client / server environment.
This individual must also be familiar with IT technology and long distance and local carrier management.
