If you are looking forward to working with data to solve complex business challenges, then this is the role for you! Success in the Role : What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

  • Within 30 days of employment, establish relationships with your stakeholders, become competent in VMware's data strategies, and work closely with your business partners to understand their unique data needs.
  • Within 90 days of employment, you will be expected to design, align, and drive VMware data strategies, while building best in class data products to support your , ad-hoc data analysis and deep dives using various analytics tools is also expected.
  • Within 180 days, you will be expected to support your business partners long and short term data needs by strategically positioning data products with the , accurate business assessments and to translate their business needs into long term data driven solutions.
  • What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

  • Your regular activities can be modified to suit your professional strengths, but you can expect a variety of the following assignments : + Deliver reporting utilizing our BI tools (including but not limited to SAP BOBJ and Tableau) to successfully transition and transform current state reporting to improved analytic capabilities, effectively drive and improve the self-service model in the business+ Extract data and perform reporting / ad-hoc analyses / deep dives to support the Sales teams+ Support end-to-end Business Intelligence lifecycle development processes as needed;
  • which includes, but is not limited to capture business requirement definitions (BRD), create functional requirement definitions (FRD), technical design documents (TDD), and run user acceptance testing (UAT)+ Collaborate on the KPIs and metrics to monitor and run the business and build reports using them+ Prototype reports and dashboards to get users engaged and excited about BI & Analytics solutions+ Oversight and project manage Data, BI & Analytics related tasks within the project such as providing status reports, lead BI requirement gathering sessions and UAT activities+ Understand the current AI / ML solutions available and leverage existing analytical models and include relevant information for reporting to stakeholders+ Perform current state to future state detailed impact analysis activities to provide input to BI data migration strategy and recommended end state solution+ Partner closely with IT teams on functional requirements and design to drive successful end state solutions and user experiences+ Perform QA activities to validate requirements are being met through front end solutions, data model verification, and source to target mapping What is the leadership like for this role?

    What is the structure and culture of the team like? The hiring manager for this role is Eric Crossley, Director Commercial and Channel Analytics, who leads the Enterprise Data and Analytics team that supports the Worldwide Partner and Channel operations teams at VMware.

    He has been with VMware for 12+ years and believes that the difference between ordeal and adventure is attitude. He is a team driven leader and encourages his team to be creative in their approach to solving business challenges, while being self-starters who lead by example.

    Where is this role located? Flexible : This role is based in VMware's Costa Rica office in Heredia, with an opportunity to work remotely in country during our pandemic response.
