About the position :

F5 is looking for a hands-on Sr. Security Engineer with experience defining, detailing, and upholding security architecture of infrastructure! F5’s Edge 2.

0 platform provides global, scalable, and secure way to deploy applications. In this position, you will be the involved in all aspects of defining and upholding security architecture from detailing various policies and procedures to carving out exceptions for specific cases.

You will keep up-to-date with both the infrastructure and the features on the platform to make sound choices about the architecture.

You will also act as a security advisor during feature development on the platform. Is this the collaborative opportunity for you to grow as a Security Engineer?

Responsibilities :

  • Collaborate with software architects, security defenders, Operations, SRE, compliance professionals, and business leaders to understand the logical boundaries of the systems and identify the systems where architectural changes may benefit the overall security of the platform and make it easy for the compliance team to prove the point
  • We work with security leaders and architects to streamline all security policies and identify gaps in controls
  • We work with both operations and compliance teams to make sure that the systems are categorized appropriately and provide rationale for the same
  • We mentor developers on the platform on security related architectural issues including communication security, data security, authentication / authorization gaps, efficient use of cryptography services etc.
  • We consume reports from audit team for checking the coverage against the overall architecture
  • Minimum qualifications :

  • BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent with 8+ years of proven experience architecting and implementing secure infrastructure
  • At least 2 years of hands-on backend development experience is required Java, C++, Golang
  • Very good understanding of SSO (OIDC / SAML), mTLS, IPSec, PKI, Secrets management, HTTP, gRPC, L4 / L7 proxy is required
  • Good understanding of OS concepts especially the security controls
  • Good knowledge of at least one Cloud Computing platform (e.g. Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Compute etc.)
  • Good knowledge of microservices architecture, Docker and Kubernetes
  • Good understanding of complexities and security challenges in large-scale distributed systems
  • Self-motivated and willing to delve into new areas and tackle new challenges with passion
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal, team building, and mentoring skills
