The Opportunity

Trust and Safety is an area of critical importance for Adobe as we continue to expand into creative, professional and enterprise markets worldwide.

We are seeking a hardworking, collaborative, and experienced Managing Counsel to join our Trust & Safety Team. In this role you will drive the development of legal strategies to mitigate risk and improve user trust across all of Adobe.

This role is highly cross-functional and requires the ability to think big and influence others you will work closely with teams and partners, including Legal, Security, Product, Engineering, Marketing and Customer Experience organizations.

This full-time position will be based in San Francisco or San Jose, CA.

What you'll Do

  • Lead our T&S legal team, including one or more legal professionals responsible for Trust & Safety matters; be a sounding board and general resource for your direct report(s).
  • Work collaboratively across the organization, including with senior executives, to build consensus and drive projects to completion.
  • Effectively manage outside counsel on a global basis.
  • Advise teams developing new user-generated content products, apps and services regarding requirements related to child safety (including children's privacy), content moderation regulations, law enforcement response and trust / safety matters;
  • Prepare and deliver regular status reports and presentations for higher-level management including Directors, VPs and the Exec Staff with progress, risks and opportunities for trust and safety-focused capabilities and processes.
  • Act as an advocate and evangelist for the team, leading internal trainings and building awareness across the company.
  • What you need to succeed

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and an active membership in at least one state bar required.
  • 8+ years of relevant legal experience, including prior in-house or law firm experience. 2 years of management experience.
  • Excellent legal and business judgment including demonstrated experience assessing information for risk mitigation opportunities
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory landscape and experience with both domestic and international laws pertaining to content moderation, data disclosure, and child safety requirements.
  • A collaborative, creative and business-friendly teammate with exceptional interpersonal skills, a great sense of humor and commitment to professionalism
  • Proven track record of working with others to advance complex product initiatives and projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with a phenomenal sense of humor and dedication to integrity.
  • Ability and appetite to learn quickly with a curious, problem-solving focused mind.
  • Ability to travel occasionally.
  • Comfortable working with sensitive and / or disturbing content.
  • Pursuant to the Colorado Fair Pay Act, below is a summary of compensation elements for this role at the company if based in Colorado.

    Colorado Starting Salary : $155,500 - $202,000

    At Adobe, for sales roles starting salaries are expressed as total target compensation (TTC base + commission), and short-term incentives are in the form of sales commission plans.

    Non-sales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and short-term incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).

    In addition, certain roles may be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of a new hire equity award.
