The SAP PI Developer is part of the 3M Global Service Center (GSC) team and is responsible for developing and monitoring and troubleshooting processes integrated using SAP NetWeaver PI.
The 3M SAP PI team is geographically dispersed in multiple geographies and across multiple time zones to ensure our end users are provided 24x7 support for issues that disrupt our business.
The ideal candidate will assist in analysis and fixing the issue as per the support release schedule.
Resolve application related incidents escalated from the Operational Command Center and Service Desk teams, as well as automated alerting from SAP Solution Manager
Review and approve technical specifications for PI interfaces to ensure adherence to PI standards
Perform PI development according to Agile methodology to enhance / create interfaces to support business needs
Monitor integrated processes and supporting platforms using SAP Netweaver Administration, SAP Netweaver PI Monitoring, and SAP Solution Manager configuration and monitoring tools
Communicate and work with support users as necessary to resolve application errors
Escalate incidents, as necessary, to the appropriate team or vendor, while actively retaining ownership of the incident on behalf of the users.
Notify users of resolutions.
Seek opportunities to develop and maintain knowledge of business processes, application functionality, configuration and administrative activities
Help with regular reviews and analysis of incident management data to highlight causes of frequent or high impact failures and suggest preventative action
Recommend operational continuous improvement opportunities, service efficiency initiatives, and business process improvement to better serve business needs
Meet agreed upon service levels and budgetary guidelines defined in the Service Level Agreement
Provide operational support, working to ensure production systems and devices are online and available; this includes non-
business hours on-call support
Design and Develop PI Interfaces that meets quality and technical standards, as well as functional / technical requirements
Make recommendations on functional and technical improvements to the application
Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution
3 years of development and support experience using SAP PI 7.0 or higher
Fast learning and well developed analytical thinking, design thinking and problem-solving skills
Experience in working in an global environment
Experience with configuration aspects of PI including Basis
3+ years experience in Java development
Strong technical skills in all areas of PI including : PI Integration Builder, PI Enterprise Service Builder, PI System Landscape Directory, NetWeaver Administrator, NetWeaver Development Studio, and Runtime Workbench
Full understanding of PI mapping techniques, including user defined functions, and PI Adapter configuration including JMS, JDBC, web service, SOAP, HTTP, REST, IDoc, RFC, and Proxy objects
Knowledge of XML, XSLT, web service standards
Knowledge of PI infrastructure architecture
Experience with deploying PI across an enterprise
Knowledge and understanding of software development and testing methodologies
Knowledge and understanding of operational support processes (e.g. ITIL)
Experience using HP Service Mangement or similar tool
Strong customer relationship skills
Effectively participate in virtual, global and distributed teams
Comfortable with ambiguity, active inquiry skills, strong written communication skills
Strong troubleshooting and technical analysis skills
Must be able to work non-traditional hours as needed
