Demand Planning Manager CAC Upjohn

  • Costa Rica - Escazu
  • Purpose : The primary role is to manage demand planning activities among internal functional groups (Marketing, Sales, Finance, Regulatory, Tenders, Supply) for Upjohn CAC, and to share information with business partners to generate an accurate demand signal to Supply Planners;
  • identify and improve forecast variances, ensuring an excellent service level and forecast accuracy. Other responsibilities including aligning status of supply assurance for the market through the interaction with the AMP-HUB structure and leading supply chain activities for New Product Launches at the market level.

    Monitor and minimize write-offs caused by demand changes and ensure robust S&OP process.


    Demand Planning and related

    Develop Statistical forecast using standard process and guidance from global demandDevelop consensus forecast by obtaining market intelligence through Brand Forecast Review (BFR) meeting cadence in marketsDevelop and analyze constrained and unconstrained demand forecastsLoad demand planning data into systems and maintain dataSupport evaluations required to evaluate tender opportunitiesEnsure alignment in $ and units through S&OP process.

    Cascade forecast to all relevant stakeholders.Customize BFR / Market S&OP materials to market requirementsDrive Market S&OP meetings, providing insight and clarifications to stakeholdersDrive ad-hoc forecast publishing processDrive FERCA analysis and submissionSupport or drive ad hoc analyses of forecast changesShared accountability with AMP Hub team to perform ongoing / one-time analyses related to demand changes and projects related to demand planningSupport yearly budget process for assigned portfolioParticipate in the DSRTSupport Long Range Volume Forecast process per regional or global guidelinesReview and align lost revenue projections with supply or regional leadsSupport forecast analytics including product segmentation and selection of forecasting model

    Supply Assurance

    Work with Hub supply planners to clearly understand supply outlook of products required in the marketShared accountability with Supply planners to identify demand-related supply and risks and support mitigation and resolution plans related to market commercial actionsShared accountability with Supply planners to identify and manage demand-related obsolescence risks and support mitigation and resolution plans related to market commercial actions.

    Execute or oversee market level supply chain at risk inventory processExecute activities related with inventory reporting aligned with established Regional processes.

    Product Change Management (PCM)

    Execute assigned market activities related to Product lifecycle management (new launches, line extensions)Support PCM activities for other product lifecycle management changesSupport product discontinuation process

    Improvement initiatives

    Support market activities related to market / regional / global improvement initiativesSupport supply planning in updates to supply chain agreements as needed

    Education and Experience

    Bachelor's degree or post graduate degree in Supply Chain Management, operations, engineering, business or a related fieldMinimum of 5 years progressive experience (10 years preferred) in Demand, Supply or related field, with 2 years of hands-on experience in Statistical modeling, forecasting and simulation systems and toolsPreferred Industry : Experience in Pharmaceutical industry or related industriesExperience leading S&OP and Demand Planning processesMotivated individual with strong self-directed capabilities as well as strong interpersonal and communications skills at higher levels of the Country and Region organization.

    Strong organizational skills, as well as the ability to perform in a command-and-control role under pressure and to manage multiple priorities with competing demandsStrong analytical, data-processing and problem-solving skillsUnderstanding of end-to-end supply chain processesAbility to negotiate and secure cooperation across multiple roles and functions towards specific objectivesAnalytical & Process oriented thinking and mindset.

    OE tools and methodologies knowledge a plus.


    Required : English & Spanish fluent verbal and written. Portuguese beneficial.

    Systems and Software :

    Required : Strong PC skills including MS Office Suite, especially Excel, Outlook. Beneficial : MS Project, Access, VisioStrongly Preferred : SAP APO DP, SNPBeneficial : Tableau or other reporting or visualization tools

    International travel may sometimes be required for global or regional meetings (0-10%)
