  • Assist in developing, coordinating, and driving requirements and schedules to ensure quality and timely delivery
  • Lead and / or assist in the development of statements of work, as required
  • Coordinate and review work done by other engineers, technicians, other support staff, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Apply a collaborative / consultative working and leadership style, relying on common sense and personal competence for persuasion and consensus-building
  • Participate in technical feasibility decisions
  • Managing and negotiating product and feature delivery dates with internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide interface between development team and stakeholders
  • Communicates status externally for the team
  • Manage product roadmap including which features to deliver, when, including capacity planning and forecasts
  • Manages the product backlog
  • Creates and clearly communicates product backlog items
  • Creates and defines epics linking them to initiatives
  • Grooms and prioritizes the backlog
  • Sets timeboxed goals as part of backlog grooming
  • Work with platform lead to prioritize the backlog
  • Works to remove roadblocks for the team to help them progress their development - coordinates across the organization when necessary to achieve objectives
  • Creating a charter with a clear definition of what a team does or provides
  • Provides vision and direction for the development team
  • Define user stories with acceptance criteria
  • Accept work and user stories once complete
  • Engages and negotiates with equipment vendors on roadmaps, feature delivery schedules, chronic failure management, etc.
  • Managing and tracking resource needs, utilization, and future requirements based on roadmap and business need. Formulates insource vs outsource strategy and identifies potential partners.
  • Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field
  • At least 8 years of experience in designing, delivering, and managing optical networks.
  • Recent experience with coherent DWDM optical networks
  • Experience in leadership and collaboration across teams made up of multiple disciplines including internal groups, vendors, subcontractors, and partners
  • Understand and experience in contributing across product / service life cycle while simultaneously driving down the cost to deliver the solution
  • Experience outsourcing technical work and technical management of subcontractor performance
  • Proven project planning, resource planning, and execution skills
  • Preferences

  • Basic understanding in some of the following areas : Cloud Computing, SW Engineering, Network Engineering and SDN
  • Experience with network automation and monitoring
  • Experience leading Agile multidisciplinary development teams using Scrum, Kanban, or similar frameworks
  • Experience with DevOps, requirements, and project management toolsets
