Our department Product and Portfolio Management is responsible for managing all of CARIAD's products over their lifetime.

The division Partner Management is responsible for CARIAD’s partner strategy focusing on two big pillars, the ADAS / AD platform and in-cabin experience.

The team acts as entrepreneurs and business owners to secure state of the art customer functions, competitiveness and profitability.

As a newly founded team, we are looking for a high-performing, innovative, results-oriented and customer-obsessed, Principal Partner Manager, to identify and establish relationships with strategic partners in order to bring new experiences to market that will delight customers.

Our growth requires leaders who move fast, have an entrepreneurial spirit to create new products, unrelenting tenacity to get things done, and are capable of breaking down and solving complex problems.

In this role, you will work closely with leadership, product development, and solutions architects to develop our partnering strategy, implement mechanisms to scale our outbound business development activities, and help close deals.

The ideal candidate will have experience in market development of automotive products, and is a self-starter willing to operate in a multifaceted way.

This is a unique opportunity to develop and execute on a global strategy to help us build the next generation of in-cabin experiences.

Preferably, we are looking for team members in Ingolstadt / Munich (Germany) or San Jose (USA).


  • Identify, establish, negotiate and manage critical partner relationships to build a vertically, optimized ADAS / AD and in-cabin technology stack
  • Nurture both executive and working-level relationships with key partners
  • Prepare and give business reviews to top-level management regarding opportunity pipeline, progress towards contract closure and implementation, contract amendments, escalations, etc.
  • Early identification of issues and the ability to rally resources to clear obstacles and meet customer expectations; lead and mentor highly motivated and dedicated individuals
  • Develop mechanisms to manage the creation / update of a partner engagement model and tracking for deal / engagement status throughout the partner lifecycle
  • Lead the consolidation of various ADAS / AD technologies across VW Group ((MaaS), Technology as a Service (TaaS), passenger segment) and regions ()

  • More than 8 years of post-degree (PhD, MBA, JD) business development experience in one or more of the following areas : IoT, connected hardware, eCommerce, mobile, high-tech industries or a related field
  • Outstanding and proven leadership skills for own team as well as cross functional teams; the ability to bring together a variety of stakeholders and align on a path forward
  • Excellent communication and persuasion skills; demonstrated success getting buy-in for innovative and bold projects
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities and make things happen in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; strong bias for action
  • Ability to think strategically, innovatively and creatively using sound business judgment and quantitative skills
  • Experience in partner relations and project management within the software or automotive area is highly beneficial
  • Fluency in English, German desirable; other languages are welcome
