Job Summary

  • Reporting to the Director of the Accessible Education Center (AEC) and receiving work lead direction from the Autism Services Counselor / Coordinator, the Program Support Specialist (PSS) works independently within established guidelines using knowledge and judgment to apply existing procedures to assists AEC counselors in providing the implementation and delivery of prescribed accommodations, services, and auxiliary aids;
  • with a focus on accessible furniture. The PSS provides administrative support to the autism spectrum disorder (ASD) program and supports activities related to departmental budget tracking, front office coordination and support, ordering and maintaining office supplies.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Oversees and provides front desk support for the entire AEC department
  • Provides guidance and facilitates student awareness to the resources and policies available by the department which serves the academic needs of students with disabilities
  • Directs students, faculty, staff, and administrators to appropriate personnel using proper procedures
  • Answers / forwards all incoming calls and provides general MyAEC support
  • Reviews, screens, and distributes all mail and / or deliveries and forwards to appropriate personnel within department
  • Supports Executive Assistant to Director with budget analysis and planning; serves as backup for absence management
  • Confirm payroll, including monthly time sheets, of interns / student assistant hours; picks up pay warrants on AEC's behalf
  • Monitors MyAEC Furniture module to track requested accessible furniture
  • Submits FD&O orders for the movement and placements of furniture
  • Provides administration support for ASD program
  • Process all new hires of interns / student assistants
  • Works with the AEC staff as necessary to support delivery of the requested accommodation(s) as directed
  • Supports AEC Testing providing test accommodations to students with disabilities
  • Assists with maintaining student accommodation information and requests within MyAEC
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of business methods, procedures and practices, English grammar, business writing, punctuation and spelling
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive communications with students, faculty staff, and external agencies
  • Possess, or ability to quickly learn, working knowledge of PeopleSoft System as it pertains to budget and payable time
  • Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures
  • Ability to maintain student records in accordance with FERPA guidelines
  • Ability to analyze complex situations accurately and adopt effective course of action
  • Ability to carry out a variety of complex assignments without detailed instructions
  • Ability to deal with sensitive and challenging administrative and interpersonal issues in a positive, proactive manner
  • Ability to handle multiple work priorities, organize and plan work and projects
  • Ability to be team player and work with flexibility and the dynamics for unexpected changes
  • Ability to compose and appropriately format correspondence and reports
  • Knowledge of software applications : word processing, spreadsheet, database management
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive communications with students, faculty and external agencies

  • Completion of a high school program or equivalent
  • 3 years of work experience in an office environment
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates Degree or equivalent

    Anticipated Hiring Range : $3,540 / month - $3,951 / month

    CSU Hiring Range : $3,440 / month - $5,639 / month

    Additional Information

    Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment.
