The Intermediate Proposal Lead Engineer is responsible for coordinating the technical and / or commercial aspects of proposals.
Also, this position requires planning, delegating and conducting work of a proposals team and the coordination of simultaneous proposal assignments.
This position will have overall accountability for the on-time delivery of technical and commercial offering including bill of materials, Enterprise Estimating Tool (EET) reports, pricing, contractual terms, and writing and assembling the technical and commercial portion of the proposal narrative.
This role reports functionally to : Proposal Supervisor.
Independently develop proposal planning and scheduling details
Leads proposal teams comprised of Operations, Sales and Industry members to complete proposal on time
Capable of concurrently managing 3 to 5 proposals or $1M to $5M of proposal value
Responsible point of contact for Customer, Sales Development, LBP, Engineering and Operations
Completes small to medium Bill’s of Materials
Capable of bid tabulation on third party quotes
Able to lead engagement with iCenter to quote standard and configure to order cabinets
Occasionally acts as a mentor to Junior Proposal Leads
Demonstrates good interpersonal and communication skills. Proven leadership skills
Able to run multiple small proposals and direct others to complete on time deliverables.
Completes quality proposals within schedule
Knowledgeable in the use of all tools for Proposal generation.
Participates in process improvements
Leverages subject matter experts to develop proposals documents based on their estimated quantities
Contributes to the process of scope definition.
Contributes to the development of engineering processes and procedures.
Supplements on complex proposals for a specific area of expertise (i.e. PM, PAS, E&I, SIS)
Develops complete technical and commercial responses to request for proposals leveraging subject matter experts.
Develops, prepares, and leads proposal scope definition discussions.
Prepares responses to technical and commercial clarifications leveraging subject matter experts
BS Engineering and 2 to 5 years of closely related experience
Advanced skills in the Microsoft Office suite of tools, specially Word, Excel and PowerPoint
English Level : B2.
Effective written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
Effective people management and team leadership skills including an ability to drive commitment and efforts of a team
Be able to coordinate more than one proposal effort simultaneously through the effective use of team resources
Knowledge in process control and safety systems, applications and interfaces
Knowledgeable in field instrumentation, metering, control and automated valves, and bus technologies
Requires travel for up to 2 times per year
