The Tax Specialist supports the various indirect tax activities for the Americas Region primarily US market (including sales & use and VAT).
Activities within scope of work include supporting efforts to ensure that the organization is compliant with all indirect tax laws, that all processes are documented, and all indirect tax matters are resolved timely, thereby reducing the tax burden to the organization.
This position requires demonstrated indirect tax knowledge, analytical abilities, communication skills, and will be responsible for assisting in various facets of the U.
S. Indirect Tax process, including review of master data, transactional inputs, system design, and controls.
Primary responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following :
Support indirect tax compliance filings (Sales & Use, exemption certificates, Canada GST / HST / QST, VAT reclaim) and other Americas return going forward;
Collaborate and partner with the organization, vendors, and customers, to educate and resolve indirect tax matters;
Update operations manuals and standards Operational Process as needed,
Support projects related to process documentation and continuous improvement opportunities;
Seek out opportunities to strengthen processes through the use of root cause analysis and propose solutions;
Communicate indirect tax law changes to impacted stakeholders;
Effectively collaborate with the tax system Center of Excellence team, back office BPO, and the RDC
Build strong collaborative relationships with local markets
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Law; advanced degree (MBA, MST) preferred
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a tax function related to indirect taxes
Business-level English and Spanish language skills (speaking and writing) required
Experience working in an organization providing services across multiple markets or geographies
Problem solving and analytical skills with a proactive work ethic
Ability to work independently, capable of handling multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
Technical Skills Requirements
Ability to support Tax research and investigation
Intermediate to Advanced PC skills (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint) required
Experience with tax determination systems (e.g., Sabrix, Vertex)
SAP experience desired
Ability to work independently and support a Tax team in a fast-paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
Demonstrated commitment to education and professional development
Ability to operate independently and navigate through change or uncertainty
Team player with focus on collaboration
Solid communication, interpersonal, and organization skills required
