Job Summary

  • Under the limited supervision of the Director, the Program Coordinator in the MOSAIC Cross Cultural Center will develop, coordinate, and implement programs with a focus on diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice for the SJSU campus;
  • develop and implement trainings with a focus on DEI and leadership for campus partners; and serve on a variety of campus-wide committees as a representative of MOSAIC.

    The Program Coordinator supervises the Cultural Programmers and Marketing Team student staff at MOSAIC.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Design and monitor the dissemination of marketing and publications / relations materials relating to designated programs (e.
  • g., brochures, programs, fliers, banners, advertisements, memos)

  • Lead in the development of outreach efforts to the campus community
  • Leads the planning and implementation of a large scale social justice engagement event
  • Lead and supervise the student staff
  • Coordinate with student assistants to assist with programs, events and projects
  • Serves as a team member to help plan, organize, and coordinate on MOSAIC signature events including cultural theme months, Open Mics, and annual events.
  • Attends conferences, workshops, professional development sessions, etc. to ensure knowledge of diversity issues is current and relevant to campus and community.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to assist with the production of culturally appropriate educational events, programs, and projects from inception to execution.
  • Ability to carry out a variety of professionally complex assignments without detailed instructions; and handle multiple work priorities, organize and plan work and projects.
  • Ability to write and compose various types of communication, create promotional materials and presentations.
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, Google Systems, Wed Design, and Photoshop.
  • Ability to provide mentorship and coach students in their personal and professional development.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must possess excellent customer service and public relations skills.
  • Demonstrated ability in counseling students and interfacing effectively with faculty, deans, administrators, alumni, and community members.
  • Required Qualifications

  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field, including or supplemented by upper division or graduate coursework in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution where such are job-related
  • Three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience. A master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience.
  • A doctorate degree and the appropriate internship or clinical training in counseling or guidance may be substituted for the three years of experience for positions with a major responsibility for professional career or personal counseling.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in higher education, social justice, or related field
  • 2 to 3 years of experience working in a higher education cross-cultural / multi-cultural center
  • Compensation

    Classification : Student Services Professional III

    Anticipated Hiring Range : $4,691 / month - $4,943 / month

    CSU Hiring Range : $4,691 / month - $6,683 / month
