The NAS Storage Specialist will be part of the Network Attached Storage (NAS) Engineering team responsible for designing new solutions and overseeing the stability, availability and efficiency of Pfizer’s current global NAS service, both Internal and cloud hosted capabilities.

This role will work as part of the Global NAS Engineering team to :

  • Use their existing programming / scripting skills to perform analysis and trending statistics for the Global NAS environment.
  • Further develop the current analytical toolset and evaluate new tools for automation and analysis.
  • Provide capacity planning reports on NAS storage environments, internal and cloud, identifying total storage, percent used, and percent free on each storage system.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems associated with and / or negatively impacting storage operations.
  • Perform analysis of allocated capacity and the association to servers and applications within CMDB.
  • Maintain current documentation associated with NAS storage processes / procedures.
  • The role will work closely with Operations teams to ensure all newly engineered solutions are transitioned to steady-state operations efficiently and effectively.

    This role will be required to interface regularly with Security, Identity & Compliance teams to ensure NAS engineering solutions and NAS operations are being performed in an audit compliant manner.

    This role reports directly to the Global NAS Storage Service Lead, which is part of the Business Application Platforms (BAP) organization within Enterprise Platforms and Security (EP&S).

    Role Responsibilities

  • Continued analysis of the NAS environment targeting process and automation improvements
  • Develop the current analytical toolset and evaluate new tools for automation and analysis.
  • Point of escalation or coordination between business and NAS support teams
  • Participate in NAS migration activities
  • Oversee installation of new NAS storage appliances
  • Ensure patches and system updates follow qualified document procedures
  • Monitor NAS capacity requirements
  • Ensure problem incidents are routed correctly and root cause analysis is performed
  • Respond to and resolve incident and problem tickets
  • Approve Requests for Change within the NAS storage environment
  • Ensure all NAS operational documentation is up to date
  • Improve the efficiency and help standardize current processes
  • Basic Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, similar technical / engineering discipline or relevant industry experience.
  • Knowledge of Windows and Linux systems.
  • Understanding of data management & transfer tools.
  • Knowledge of Project management.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Knowledge of technical documentation skills.
  • Good oral and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct research into storage issues, standards, and products.
  • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
  • Highly self motivated and directed.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a similar technical / engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 1 years of experience in an enterprise IT setting, preferably one in a highly regulated industry such as banking / financial or healthcare / pharmaceutical.
  • Practical experience in data management & transfer tools.
  • Knowledge of and experience with cloud storage providers such as AWS, Google and Azure is also a plus.
  • Scripting experience with common languages such as perl, python, ksh, and windows vb & batch.
  • Experience with analytics tools and technologies such as Tableau, R, Python, SQL and Jira
  • Certification in NetApp or DELL NAS technology.
