Emerson Automation Solutions is actively seeking candidates to fill a Senior Engineer position to perform / lead the design, implementation, testing and startup of Process Control Systems for our clients in the life sciences.
At Emerson, Senior Engineers are key members of a diverse team of professionals developing solutions for our client’s most complex automation challenges.
Candidates must have an excellent understanding of batch and continuous process control strategies.
Successful Senior Engineers can quickly develop good working relationships with the Emerson project team and client project team.
They participate in all phases of a project from requirements definition through plant startup in a collaborative, customer facing role.
Additionally, they work closely with the Project Manager and technical team to meet requirements for quality, budget and schedule.
Travel to various customer project sites is required.
Plans and coordinates technical design and engineering implementation of project work
This person will be the project technical lead and may be responsible for some project management activities
Participates in the execution of procedures for factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, commissioning, and startup activities
Work with customer’s process engineers to develop functional requirements.
Preparation of Functional Specifications, definition of project scope, review of design inputs
Shares technical knowledge with project team, supervisor, own discipline and other engineering disciplines
Supervision of project team members
Lead / implement-customized complex and / or standard engineering solutions, typically undertaking one aspect of a large project (i.
e. Continuous / Batch database configuration, complex logic / sequence, HMI design), to successful completion and within budgeted time and constraints
Leads execution of procedures for factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, commissioning, and startup activities
Develop and implement standard engineering practices as well as provide detailed documentation upon project completion
Must understand and follow established engineering Project Management Office processes on projects assigned
Bachelor Degree in Electronics, Electrical, Electromechanical, or Chemical engineering from an accredited university
6 or more years of industry experience
Experience in Food or Beverage Processing, Chemical, Bio-Tech, Oil and Gas, Petrochemical and Life Science industries is a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Ability to travel for routine, short-duration (one to two weeks) project meetings, training and other business events.
Ability to travel for temporary assignments (international) away from the Emerson home office (e.g. customer project sites.
Typical travel assignments range from two to six months at a time or 25% to 75% of total time per year. Travel for extended assignments greater than one year is possible.
In some cases, periodic return trips home are available during travel assignments.)
Team player approach to project execution
Desire PLC configuration and programming knowledge, industrial networks, field instrumentation, etc.
Experience with any of the following Control Systems : Emerson, ABB, Invensys, Honeywell, Westinghouse, Bristol Babcock, Yokogawa, Siemens, Rockwell, etc.
Experience with any of the following HMI or SCADA software packages Wonderware, Rockwell, Intellution, GE Cimplicity, Ci-
Tech, Iconics, Siemens, US Data, National Instruments, etc
Knowledge on Communication protocols like OPC, Modbus, Profibus, FieldBus, HART
Experience working on complex batch process control projects in the Life Sciences Industry. Experience must include leading all or part of an automation project, working with customers to create functional requirements, designing control strategies and providing startup support at site is a plus.
Portuguese is a plus.
