Job Title : Language Team Lead

Department : Language Services

Reports To : Language Services Group Manager

POSITION OVERVIEW :

In addition to having the responsibilities of a language lead or translator, this position will :

  • Supervise a sub team of 2-6 team members.
  • Assign workload to team.
  • Support training needs.
  • What You Will Do :

  • Perform the language lead or translator role in the assigned account(s).
  • Supervise a sub team of 2-6 team members.
  • Assign workload to team.
  • Manage team members (review employee performance, discuss career paths, set objectives according to guidelines / discussion with Language Manager, etc.).
  • Be the primary communication link and escalation path for the Language Team.
  • Ensure workload balancing.
  • Approve and organize PTO. Ensure that contingency / backup plans are available within the team.
  • Be responsible for crisis resolution on issues between groups.
  • Identify and support training needs, propose training plan and tracking, develop training documentation.
  • Create training plans for new team members and monitor their execution.
  • Provide guidance regarding problem solving, client communication, resource issues, etc.
  • Solve problems with little to no support.
  • Provide support on client proposals and inputs on crisis problems and possible resolution.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage gained knowledge into the Language Department.
  • Be able to make prompt and independent decisions.
  • Ensure that appropriate service and quality is provided from internal resources.
  • Provide active contribution to management efforts that target improving operational efficiencies, processes, and procedures in the localization workflow.
  • Work closely with the Language Management team on language, workload distribution, and quality related topics.
  • Promptly notify manager about any problems that affect your ability to accomplish planned goals.
  • Sponsor one or more company initiatives.
  • Demonstrate honesty, keep commitments, and behave in a consistent and ethical manner - abiding by all Lionbridge policies.

  • Gain strong knowledge of the various localization workflows and clear understanding their specific advantages and limits.
  • Have solid experience and skills in vendor communication in localization industry.
  • Have strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Be open to change.
  • JOB REQUIREMENTS :

  • College Degree (Bachelor's degree or higher) in Linguistics, Translation, or language-related domain.
  • 4+years of professional experience in translation or related fields is strongly preferred.
  • Native fluency in 1+ non-English language(s).
  • Strong knowledge of Localization Processes, Translation Memory tools, Terminology management processes and computer-assisted translation software.
  • Strong client facing and presentation skills.
  • Solid experience and skills in vendor communication in localization industry.
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability and skills to manage a team.
  • Ability to give clear, concise, and constructive advice and feedback.
