Position Summary

The Technical Program Manager (TPM) is an authority with excellent interpersonal skills, strength working cross-functionally, with ability to influence and facilitate resolution of operational issues to deliver world class business solutions.

The position requires a strong combination of technical / operational savviness and business analytics with deep focus on the big-picture vision.

The TPM will track program level deliverables / milestones and develop / maintain dashboards to communicate status updates to all stakeholders including business unit leadership.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead several technical programs for the F5 Distributed Cloud team by setting priorities for products and engineering, leading cross-functional teams to take products to market, ensuring success metrics are informing future efforts, and quickly fine tuning the program as needed.
  • Manage and operationalize the Product Roadmap review process to guide software development and engineering teams to execute based on a list of product / service / feature requirements that have been prioritized by the Product Management team.
  • Coordinate SW development activities as necessary to resolve bottlenecks, address issues, complete documentation deliverables, complete code reviews, etc.
  • Facilitate collaboration and effective communication across organizations and functions, including coordination of meetings and capturing and tracking action items
  • Communicate and collaborate on complex technical challenges and resolutions that require cross- functional collaboration across diverse teams, partners and geographies.
  • Negotiate challenging priorities and navigate complex organizational dynamics to establish delivery plans, and schedules that are in alignment with the objectives of the organization and the company.
  • Bring the product vision and the technical build together become the glue between functional teams
  • Develop strong relationships to engage, align, and empower teams to deliver products
  • Maintain and continue to develop a broad knowledge of business & technology expertise while understanding the interconnections between the people, the processes, and the technology solutions.
  • Bring an outstanding blend of business and technical savvy : a big-picture vision, the drive to make that vision a reality, and technical credibility to engage with cross functional teams.
  • Develop, report, and continually improve performance metrics.
  • Proactively identify and resolve strategic issues that may impair the team’s ability to meet delivery schedules.
  • Create and manage dashboards to regularly communicate the program status and key issues to management and across stakeholder organizations.
  • Drive and help streamline day-to-day operational aspects by improving process and procedures within the teams.
  • Responsible for upholding F5’s Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Deep familiarity with Software Tools like GitLab, Jira, Tableau, Aha, MS Project and SmartSheets is a key requirement for this position.

  • Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle and Release Management process as well as broad technical understanding of Distributed Cloud technologies to support SaaS delivery models is highly desirable.

  • Ability to bridge the gap between Product, Engineering, and Architecture groups to facilitate solutions.
  • Strong project and program management skills.
  • Understanding the importance of building strong working relationships.
  • Effective written and verbal communication.
  • Strong organizational, presentation, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to quickly master technical concepts.
  • While encouraged to be a facilitator and driver, equally comfortable digging into business requirements with development teams to solve complex problems.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related field.
  • 5+ years’ experience in Technical Program and / or project management.
  • 3+ years of experience in a program manager capacity.
  • Experience with Software Development Lifecycle, Release Management, Cloud Computing and SaaS delivery methodologies.
  • Experience working with Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau for creating dashboards to present multi-dimensional data inferences.
  • Experience collaborating with a geo-dispersed team in diverse time zones.
  • Technology product management / development experience is highly desired.
  • Team player with a strong work ethic and a can do attitude.
