Job Title : Buy Desk LeadLocation : Costa Rica LagunillaPurpose : Manage day-to-day operations of the Buy Desk team within the Procurement Center of ExcellenceKey Responsibilities :

  • Build and develop a cross-functional Buy Desk team with collective capability and balanced skillsets across Direct / Indirect categories
  • Serve as primary point of contact and escalation point for all Buy Desk activity serviced out of the Procurement Center of Excellence
  • Develop standard operating procedures, playbooks, and monthly scorecards to maintain high quality and performance
  • Design the performance management approach for the Buy Desk (including management and tracking of key metrics)
  • Oversee the triage and prioritization of Buy Desk requests based on speciality requirements, category expertise and skillsets within the team
  • Consult and support on higher complexity requests as part of the Procurement Excellence Buy Desk, including supplier engagement, negotiations, and analysis
  • Identify opportunities to continue to enhance and streamline intake, execution and outtake processes to maximize customer satisfaction
  • Partner with Market Intelligence and Spend Analytics teams as appropriate to inform supplier and cost analysisCompetencies : Functional & Technical skills
  • Deep experience with sourcing process, vendor management, contract negotiations and procure to pay operations
  • Expertise in sourcing tools (e-sourcing, spend analytics, ERP, supplier management software)
  • Negotiation skills will need to solicit bids and negotiate purchases directly with suppliers
  • Experience setting up standard operating procedures and playbooks
  • Knowledge of project management mechanisms that can be used to manage workload and prioritization of requests from external customersLeadership / behavioral
  • Effective leader with people management experience in procurement will need to build and develop a team with balanced skillsets and capabilities
  • Thrive in an entrepreneurial environment self-starter who looks for ways to improve existing processes
  • Strong customer service orientation, keen to deliver on internal customer needs
  • Communicates and influences effectively, with the ability to motivate and influence others inside and outside of own functionExperience & Qualification
  • Proven working experience as purchasing manager, agent or officer
  • 3-5 years of purchasing experience / negotiations
  • Degree in supply chain management, operations or business administration (nice to have)
  • High level of English language competency (verbal and written)
