JOB SUMMARY Join our growing Design-Build team performing exciting industry changing large commercial design-build projects.
This opportunity will be working with a leading tech client in the Silicon Valley / South Bay. In this role, you will get to run all aspects of the project design, including management of design consultants, coordination of design disciplines, and administration of consultant contracts.
The role also entails coordination of the design with other members of the Integrated Project Delivery team, most notably Cost Planning, Scheduling, BIM, and Construction.

Read more at ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Support the selection and contracting of design consultants, and administer those contracts.
Support the development of winning proposal strategies. Lead design-build teams including design managers, cost planners, BIM managers, pre-con team, and external design consultants to deliver successful projects which meet targets for safety, schedule, profit, quality, and sustainability.
This role typically includes managing one or more direct reports on a project team. Lead the design process to provide best-value to the client while ensuring continual alignment between design and budget from proposal through project delivery.
Develop and update Project Design Brief which is aligned with Client expectations Client Brief, RFP, OPRs, Mission Statements) and which serves as a guideline for design.
Develop and own design schedule and incorporate into the overall integrated project schedule. Prepare and manage the project design budget including all internal labor and design consultant fees.
During Construction Stage, continue to serve as design lead with the responsibility to ensure the Client Brief is met. Manage the RFI process and issue timely resolution during construction.
In coordination with other design managers, oversee one or more design disciplines arch, civil, MEP, etc) including, but not limited to design review and coordination.
Review designs, specs, BODs, engineering studies and other reports to ensure project scope is aligned with the project budget.
For all projects, ensure the design is done in BIM (coordinated with Lendlease BIM Manager). The Sr Design Manager is responsible to explore and implement modular and / or other progressive Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA) approaches to maximize the cost and schedule efficiency of each project and improve the DB business’ digital and DfMA capabilities.
Be responsible for LEED goal management and other project sustainability requirements. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Possess the skills which would typically be achieved with about 4- 6 years of related professional experience in design and / or design management of construction projects.
This includes being able to.... Manage multiple design disciplines architecture, civil engineering, structural engineering, landscape architecture, MEP) from project concept through construction documents.
Understand construction cost plans and review cost plans against designs in order to identify scope gaps. Perform basic project management functions, including time management, task establishment and tracking, scheduling, problem-solving, and basic financial reporting.
Contribute ideas, critique, and analysis to the design process for one or more design disciplines. Should have prior experience leading design on large commercial projects.
Proficient with industry leading design software (such as Revit) and Primavera 6 scheduling software is preferred. A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related major is highly preferred.
A Professional Engineer (PE) license is desired, but not required. Should have a demonstrated track record of working positively with others in fast-paced / fast-track environments, as well as establishing great client relationships through good communications and quality work.
