Responsibilities

NBC Bay Area's Community Engagement Internship provides students with real world experience and exposure to working in a top ten television market's high-energy Community Engagement team.

We are looking for students who are highly motivated and who can function as a team member or independently in a fast-paced environment.

Schedule requirements : Minimum two days per week, with some weekends based on department needs.

During their internship, interns will :

  • Assist in online research of local community events and keep a beat on what’s happening in Bay Area.
  • Have an in-depth understanding of the SF Bay Area non-profit, cultural and media landscapes.
  • Propose new community events to support company priorities and goals.
  • Assist in researching potential guest for community affairs program.
  • Compile the stations FCC public file including development of quarterly and annual reports.
  • Update and maintain the nbcbayarea.com online community calendar
  • Assist with planning, and participate in, special station events and projects including weekend events.
  • Assist in developing and curating engaging community content for social media platforms.
  • Internships at NBCUniversal are paid and do not require course credit.

    Qualifications / Requirements

    Qualifications / Requirements :

    NBCUniversal interns must meet the following criteria :

  • In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution and be able to provide documentation to confirm your degree progress.
  • We will consider recent graduates one semester beyond degree.

  • Current class standing of Junior or above
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. without a Visa or sponsorship
  • The ability to work at the station, located at 2450 N. First Street, San Jose, CA
  • Must be able to provide their own transportation to and from community event activations throughout the Bay Area.
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50-lbs unassisted
  • Utilize Word, Excel, and other programs in execution of assignments.
  • Desired Characteristics

  • Spanish language proficiency a plus
  • Graphic design and photoshop skills are a plus.
