Position Summary

At F5, we're a big tech company with a small-company vibe. The F5 marketing team is looking for a Vice President of Technical Marketing to join our team and build sales momentum around solution-based use cases and architectures.

The VP must be able to understand how to bridge technology to solutions that solve business problems for customer and channel partners as well as internal stakeholders across multiple disciplines.

On this team, you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your strong leadership, communication and project management skills, and your ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams to execute on a wide variety of initiatives.

Demonstrable skills in solution development are critical to this role.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead a senior technical team of solution architects to develop succinct and compelling uses case and architectural guidance for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Build a strong sustainable program for ongoing use case development that delivers meaningful results
  • Integrate F5’s positioning and messaging in the use case development process that resonates with customers, communicating the value of our solutions in terms that customers understand.
  • Leverage research and insights to establish an understanding of the customer and their pain points. Have close relationships with important customers and be able to evangelize how F5 solutions provide differentiation and to gather feedback about their needs.
  • Work with sales to understand the sales cycle such as feedback on buyer personas, sales plays and adoption barriers.
  • Work with engineering / product team to understand the product and technology roadmaps and how they will bring value to customers through use case development.
  • Prioritize the use cases that will deliver the most value to F5 in terms of near- and long-term revenues in order to maximize results from efforts.
  • Build and maintain a use case validation lab.
  • Create content that help sales and partners effectively position and sell use case-based solutions.
  • Work cross functionally to deliver use case messaging and drive content adoption by partnering with other teams across marketing, sales, and channels.
  • Responsible for upholding F5’s BeF5 behaviors and Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong leadership, and partnering skills. The ideal candidate possesses a blend of marketing, business and technical savvy;
  • a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality

  • Solid track record in building, developing and recruiting diverse high-performance teams based on a large network of talent in the security and networking industry
  • Leading by example, when necessary, will not hesitate to get into the details of the business
  • Ability to work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of the company, products, and solutions
  • Ability to collaborate cross functionally with sales, marketing, engineering, and services to develop and execute a strategy that will assure the alignment on use case priorities.
  • Experienced at building test labs and QA processes.
  • Experienced at developing brand compliant content
  • Determined : Highly autonomous individual that can lead a cross-functional project from the ground up and make things happen
  • Qualifications

  • Must have 8+ years of experience in a VP or Senior Director role driving technology sales and adoption through the development of use cases and architectures.
  • Previous VP experience preferred.

  • Strategic and analytical mindset with demonstrated ability to simplify complex concepts and articulate uniquely differentiated value propositions to both technical and business audiences.
  • A proven track record to influence up, down and across functionally to peers and the ability to collaborate among multiple groups.
  • A proven track record in building, developing and recruiting diverse high-performance teams based on a large network of talent in the networking and security industry.
  • Be a good storyteller. Have the ability to communicate that story verbally and in writing. Be able to translate technology into business benefits that resonate with customers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics,) or equivalent practical experience.
  • Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table.
  • Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material.
  • Duties may require being on call periodically or working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).
