The business manager is responsible for the managing and developing business opportunities for St. Joseph Cathedral Basilica Gift Shop.
This includes ordering and managing inventory, managing accounts, maintaining financial records and in collaboration with the pastor and the diocesan liturgy director maintaining relationships with parishes to supply local parishes with liturgical supplies and resources through the Gift Shop.
The gift shop manager is also responsible for supervising and scheduling the sales staff and volunteer team.
IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
Candidate should have an understanding of and respect for Catholic culture and religious experience.
Candidate must possess 5 years of relevant professional experience expressing history of successful administrative, supervisory and management endeavors.
A bilingual candidate (English / Spanish) is needed.
Candidate must pass a background check and successfully complete sexual harassment awareness for supervisors and protection of children training.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES :

A. Financial Administration
In collaboration with the pastor the manager develops and maintains the gift shop budget.
The business manager monitors and balances gift shop accounts monthly.
The business manager keeps accurate financial records for the gift shop.
The gift shop manager orders appropriate merchandise and maintains accurate records of sales ad inventory.
The manager prepares necessary local and state tax and assessments.
The manager becomes familiar with, supports and enforces diocesan financial policies and procedures.
Supervises sales staff and any parish volunteers.
Is familiar with and becomes proficient the human resource software used by the diocese and the parish (presently WorkDay).
C. Parish Staff Responsibilities
Collaborates with pastoral staff to ensure high quality customer service .
Participates in staff meetings and meets regularly with the pastor to coordinate any parish activities needing gift shop support.
Maintains established office hours.
D. Required Skills
Facility and comfort with Microsoft Office Suite, Quick Books, and Workday.
Good written and oral communication skills.
The capacity to work will with office, pastoral staff, and volunteers of St. Joseph Cathedral.
The ability to maintain confidentiality within and outside of the organization.
JOB SCOPE :
Position requires ongoing training and coordination with the Pastor of Saint Joseph Cathedral. Position operates from general directions and instructions, but also determines own practices and procedures, performing with moderate supervision.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, talk, reach, sit, hear, handle and perform repetitive motions of the hands / wrists.
Lifts and moves items up to 20 pounds.
