Compliance Operations (C-OPS) is responsible for conducting operational and transactional tasks for the programs within the S3C Organization (Safety, Sustainability, Security and Compliance) which include Restricted Products, Dangerous Goods, Global Trade, Product Safety, among others.
SJO’s main scope is overseeing the LATAM region, which at the moment includes the Mexico and Brazil marketplaces. Given the nature of our tasks, we strive to deliver the highest quality in our actions since this allows us to achieve safety and regulatory compliance for both our customers and Amazon.

We are looking for talented Global Trade Compliance Classification Specialist to support our rapidly growing and evolving businesses.
You will support the business by inferring the trade laws and in turn work with colleagues who will classify the products accordingly.
The classification should be according to the country specific customs regulations and trade requirements. You will work directly with Amazon Operations, Retail teams, Legal, and a variety of global internal businesses and outside vendors to drive import / export compliance across the supply chain.

Roles and responsibilities :
Global Trade Specialist I will be responsible for operational tasks to ensure import / export compliance with regulations in different countries in which Amazon operates, including Brazil, Canada, Mexico and United States.
Specific duties may include :
Customs Broker requests management for Import Clearance for different marketplaces.
Product review to ensure compliance with import laws, Trademark regulations and other import requirements.
Interacting with internal customers to ensure timely resolution for imports.
Determination of Product specifications required for lab testing to determine import viability.
Other support activities to ensure compliance with local and US regulations for import / export processes.
Determination of HTS Classification (for BR, CA, MX and US) and other country specifics, including BR and MX product type classification for risk assessment and BR CEST and EX-Tipi codes.
In addition to the operational responsibilities listed above, Global Trade Specialist I will take on a larger organizational role progressively with a consistent growth through time.
These tasks may include but are not limited to :
Creation and maintenance of SOPs and Work Instructions.
Flagging any updates received from stakeholders on process to Process Expert / Manager.
Identification & implementation of improvement opportunities / automation to enhance process efficiency, quality and customer experience with measurable impact.
Responsible for quality, root cause analysis on process & quality gaps and recommend corrective actions.
Training and mentoring new hires and other associates, suggests improvements to training.
Understanding of metrics, deep dive on KPIs, troubleshooting on reports and multiple data sources.
Work with Amazon’s Global Trade Compliance team to execute strategy, seek automation opportunities and leverage technologies.
Work with Amazon’s internal technology teams to develop creative and best-in-class trade compliance business processes that can scale up.
Job may require work on rotating shifts. Shift timing will be defined based on business need.
Minimum qualifications must be met in order to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
Internal candidates must be currently on a L4 role.
Bachelor Degree in Customs Administration, Foreign Trade, Supply Chain management or a similar degree.
2+ years of experience in a Global Trade or Logistics role.
1+ years of HTS Classification knowledge / experience on resume.
B2+ Professional English written and oral communication Proficiency.
Proven MS Office package (Excel) in resume.
B2+ Professional Portuguese written and oral communication Proficiency
1+ year of experience analyzing data using Microsoft Excel, SQL, Power BI or others.
Retail industry experience
Experience leveraging technology to drive process improvements
Experience with Lean Six Sigma and other process improvement tools
Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations and drive actions.
