The Facilities Manager is responsible for managing people, processes and relationships that are associated with Facilities and contract service providers.

The role has broad responsibilities for managing personnel, contractors, overseeing projects, maintaining safety protocols and implementing site procedures.

Incumbent acts as the primary point of contact for all initiatives associated with maintaining the integrity and operation of the site.

Main Responsibilities :

  • Responsible for the management of a group of senior, multi-discipline facility engineers, including effective communication, recruitment, induction, training and performance
  • Responsible for managing the design, planning, construction, and maintenance of equipment, machinery, buildings, and other facilities.
  • Develop site master plan for Abbott Vascular Costa Rica to guide facility decisions at this location.
  • Define strategic direction for the design and construction of Abbott facilities relative to processes, procedures, standards and cost reductions.
  • Prepare and manage departmental budget in terms of dollars and headcount.
  • Maintain a high degree of accountability for the execution of facilities project activity, including communications, budget and schedule.
  • Keep all project commitments current by analyzing workload and securing the necessary resources to meet facilities management requirements and capital plan execution.
  • Assure compliance with all federal, state, local and / or international codes as well as corporate standards and specifications.
  • Ensure that safe working practices are adhered to by all contractors for all projects to meet regulatory and legal requirements
  • Develop and implement business continuity and long-term facilities plans to include planned preventative maintenance programs and emergency response for all facility related aspects of site operations
  • Continuously and aggressively identify facility related cost reduction strategies balancing the need to maintain a productive, safe and consistent work environment that supports the operations at the site.
  • Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Operations
  • MBA desired
  • 10+ years of related work experience (Project management in Operations, people management, experience in manufacturing industry, Financial / budget responsibility)
  • Fully Bilingual English-Spanish.
