The incumbent in this position will manage and monitor the purchase of spare parts, industrial and operations supplies, health and safety products, office and IT supplies, chemicals and services required for the manufacture of finished goods.
Should also negotiate pricing and terms for the purchase of MROS, manage and monitor supplier performance and inventory dollars.
The Buyer will support all corporate purchasing initiatives and act as liaison between the Cardinal Health Costa Rica facility and the Procurement Organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Serve as primary Purchasing contact for the Supplier and develop long term relationships through constant communication including daily operational interaction and cadence business reviews.
Comprehensive ownership and efficient management of the purchase order life cycle (Review order exceptions, create POs, and ensure receipt).
Maintain purchasing system parameters for assigned Supplier portfolio (order minimums, order days, order cycle, etc.)
Annually, establish the purchasing standards for all MRO.
Monitor and report the performance of suppliers regarding metrics like on-time delivery and product quality in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Receive price quotes from vendors, compare quotes against requirements, the budget and purchase orders.
Follow the procedures of purchasing department and ensure that those procedures and activities are complying with FDA, ISO, Sarbanes-Oxley and other regulatory standards including internal processes.
Implement lean manufacturing concepts, such as Vendor Managed Inventories, Kanban systems and Just in Time deliveries when applied.
Effectively process approximately 300 purchase orders monthly.
Qualifications (min requirements)
4 year degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, International Trade or similar
3 years’ experience purchasing components, manufacturing supplies, or services - Indirect purchasing.
English : Intermediate to advance
Knowledge of purchasing tools such as AS400, SAP, or other.
Skilled negotiator with working knowledge of contract terms and conditions.
Ability to forecast supply needs while promoting cost savings
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytic skills.
Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Microsoft Excel - intermediate to advance
Healthcare purchasing industry experience preferred.
