Akamai Technical Academy is a program that recruits and trains individuals who possess a propensity and an interest in pursuing a career in technology, but may not have the necessary education or training.
The program consists of three phases : 1. Classroom training; 2. Contract employment period; 3. Conversion to full-time employee pending strong performance.
The classroom training phase is an intensive, customized, instructor-led learning program delivered both in classroom and virtually at Akamai Technologies offices in Krakow, Poland and San Jose, Costa Rica.
The technical curriculum is delivered by our training partner, The Training Associates (TTA), supported by the Training Coordinator and a Program Coach.
After successfully completing the training, program participants are placed in entry-level contract roles at Akamai.The Training Coordinator will be a contract employee responsible for managing day-
to-day operations of the classroom including : coordinating classroom activities, maintaining a daily schedule, providing support to program participants in terms of their classroom wellbeing.
The Coordinator will work closely with the Program Coach to make sure that all non-technical training objectives are met.
Responsibilities include :
Maintain a positive and respectful classroom atmosphere focused on learning and professional development
Coordinate day-to-day operations of the classroom and overall delivery of the training by the technical trainers
Command group’s attention while in class, check for understanding
Manage the end-of-module assessment process, attendance list, classroom diary
Serve as point of contact for both Akamai and TTA during the training phase of the program, meeting regularly with the Program Coach to review and discuss progress, questions, and concerns
Work with the Program Coach to plan a variety of activities (speaker series, meeting with the business, social events, graduation ceremony) during the training phase of the program
Help facilitate soft skills trainings and other activities as needed
Solve problems before they happen, escalate issues
Collect feedback from different stakeholders and make suggestions for continuous improvement of the program
Make recommendations towards Phase 2 assignments
Basic Qualifications :
Minimum 2-years experience in coordinating classroom activities, facilitating and / or leading trainings
Proficient speaking and writing in English
Desired Qualifications :
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated understanding of adult learning principles
Familiarity with Learning Management Systems
Familiarity with the Technology industry
Strong problem-solving skills, works well under pressure
Passionate about working with people
Ability to support a wide variety of personalities and learning styles
